• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2T FIM in '14

Can you say " TM versus K TM " ? Probably some YZ250's in there, too. Not sure what makes more sense...This series or a 150cc starter series for young riders? I think the latter......

Maybe its just kindling for re-starting the 2T that EU does not wanna see die ...

Myself, I'd like to see a 300s 2t race ... Some of the 500cc championships in the past were won on ~360cc machines and not a true 500cc ... So this size might be as much as a PRO rider can deal with ...

They will need to design tracks for these bikes probably ... And in 5 yrs, invite the 4ts over and crush them and the myth these bikes have lived under for yrs....If pockets are deep enough, it just might work..

EDIT: I don't see how SP can keep Husky out of this arena ...

FIM all ready have the the FIM EMX125 championship aimed at the juniors this is a great series. It would be the same as if the AMA made a 125 National championship, not to take away from Lorettas or Mammoth mtn mx, but a real sanctioned 125 nat championship.
Now back to the 300cc thing , basically an "open" class 2T type thing 250-300cc 2T thats what the manufacturers have, this could be really fun to see if more smalls join the fun or if more teams choose the smalls as their brand race, KTM, TM, Fantic, Beta, GasGas,Yam etc all in MX would be a great watch! Add some other redone older Japanese brands into that mix and you have a full multi brand gate.

Allowing ~anyone and everyone a shot at being in the starting gate could be a big key in success for starting up ...

The only people who I could see riding a older japanese brand or an enduro-based bike (gasgas,Beta, etc) would be privateers. Why would Beta try to compete in an arena where they don't market a bike and have no experience in bike setup or realistic chance of a strong showing? The japanese, save Yamaha, have no horse in the race. I could see KTM entering a Husky-branded bike though they have not tipped their hand yet towards what Husqvarna will offer for models..... Yup, this will be the "KTM 2-stroke world championships" .

Still pretty cool! Another step for the twostrokes making a comeback.....It's happening! Buy them, they will make them.

Unfortunately, I have ENDLESS faith in Luongo and Youthstream to F*** up a good idea.

Who knows what the business side is for them ... business guys hate to lose money so I hope they don't bust the bank yr 1 and toss in the towel ...

First(IMHO), this is not a JAP bike thing maybe .... Their ring leader is anti-2t ...I highly doubt these guys are counting on the yen for success... But who knows? Its business!

Second(IMHO), this is not a BIL$ western idea ... Only 6-7 races in EU for testing the waters... this racing cost should be low enough to allow privateers to race along with the factory teams or what ever you wanna call the race teams...Yep, big money guys win here, same as any other sports in most cases... Maybe give the local hot-shots plenty of practice time on a track so that he can make a good showing at his home track on race day...

If this event is gonna be costly for all involved, ESP the riders, might be the wrong approach ... Not sure what the fan support for MX racing in EU is now but this racing almost has to be built from the ground up again, making cost paramount for this start-up ...If you can grow from this baby, then you cross over with the 4t machines and thump thump them off the podium ... The yen will only now notice ...

--

Why would Beta wanna race? Because the low cost allows them to race and advertise their product ... Same as all others ..Same as me here in the Philippines with the Kopiko SX series ... I race some in their top series because it is affordable and I have a good time ... Everyone wants to race ...We're even called the Human Race :0) ...

Bottom Line -- if the fans come out, it'll stay ...if fans stay away, back to the woods for the 2t machines ...
