• 2 Stroke Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Italy - About 1989 to 2014
    WR = 2st Enduro & CR = 2st Cross

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st 250 or 300... YZ or WR?

yep, 125s and the KTM 200 are easy reliable kickers. Typically a half good one lights 'em up. After that PWK gets passed around I want to try it too. Will return.

Is a Wr 300 really good in tight technical riding?
I'd get the Wr because to me they are better value and some good buys around
Like 6k for a as new 2013 compared to a used yz
Unless you want to do some mx If you keep your 165 I'd get a bigger 4stroke for longer rides

yz250 it is...
i got this one for $3850, pretty good value if you live in Australia.

It has 50 hours on it and is basically stock apart from the ASV levers.

I will enduro'ise it and i think it will be a weapon.
First up will be pipe and FWW, suspension tweaking and maybe throw a headlight on it.

I'll keep y'all updated...

Sick! Cograts. You are going to love that thing**************************************** They are wonderful motorcycles.

A plated WR450 would be a huge seller as well. The Japanese either are clueless or don't care to dabble in the plated Enduro market. The numbers must not be there to make it worth while for them.

I've pretty much made up my mind that I'm going to bail on Husky and get a new YZ250. I'm sure that news upsets KTM.

I'm hot for a used light weight two stroke woods/play bike. There's no way in hell I'm going to drop $8400 + fees on a 2014 TE 250. I paid a lot less than that for my band new 511. If I had the money, I'd probably go with a Beta. They are really nice bikes, but still on the pricey side of things. Though they are more plug-n-play than some of the other bikes. Still, for a bike that I know I'm going to ride hard, and break, the YZ is really hard to pass up. The low total cost of owner ship is enticing. I ride nothing but woods. Tight, smooth single-track with the occasional rocky hill climb thrown in to make it interesting. If I can figure out how I to do something about the lazy turning, then the YZ gets my vote.

EDIT: Besides, from what I've seen, buying a used [recent] Husky, doesn't save you a heck of a lot of money.

I also think that if Yamaha had put a sixth gear and lighting coil on them they would have sold every one they could make. I would have bought one for sure. I bought the Husky mainly because of the lighting and being able to plate it for enduros. Now that I have had both, I think they are both pretty darn good, If both had lights and 6 speeds it would be hard to choose. The part that would win me over for Yamaha is the aftermarket is huge and getting parts is never a issue. You can get anything for a husky but sometimes you only have 1 option.

For me the 6 speed and plate is covered by the TE 511. Most of my riding, however, entails trucking the bike to the staging point and staying within a single OHV area. On the rare occasions that I do need the plate, I don't sacrifice much by riding the TE 511 on the dirt sections. It's a hoot to ride off-road. But I ride almost every weekend and want to keep the miles off of it. And I want to take my skills to the next level so one of these light weight easy to fix bikes is ideal for me.
