  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc 250/300 Stock gas tank ?

Sales potential of a unit like that would probably be higher than 200 units, regardless of what Husky does for 2013, figuring that it would be able to fit over ten model years of WR / CR 125, 250, 300 and 360’s.

Need to show them some of the pictures of the unit GK used on his 2009 GNCC bike.

BTW- They also make a raiser like mine that you can use on a stock Husky tank.

I have never seen any pics of GK 2009 . Wonder how much his tank held?

Good price on that riser too.

Here's what I came up with years ago. Gets me almost a gallon extra. I'm in the process of fitting it to my 2012 WR125. This tank was made for a 97 YZ125. Tee'd to carb and vent runs up and tees to gas cap. The fuel is used and refills automatically. I do put a shut off on it in case of a problem. I HATE the large tanks due to me liking to ride up on the tank while doing enduro's.tank 3.jpgtank 1.jpg

I think theres soo much universal dissatisfaction with the current options from IMS for Husky 2 strokes that if you or someone marketed that you would be on your way to making some serious daniro - lol

My understanding it was about 3.5 gallon.

How is the Tank for the 2012 CR 125 I saw some where it was only 2 gallons
I want to build a new 2012 CR150 but need 3 gallons to make the 45 mile loops at a National
Stock 250 2 stroke tank is 11 quarts and with my dry break riser I get almost 3 gallons which works out fine for both my 2008 CR 125 and my 2011 CR300

The IMS tank for the new bikes isn't too bad. It's a hair long and makes the seat hard to get on, but it's passable and give you right at 3 gallons.

thread revival i know but youd think that now after the 13s are out(and no change again!) that someone would be able to make a decent aftermarket tank. surely after yet another year model release that the tank would fit(not to mention how many different models it could be made to fit-250/300, older 4ts, 125/360s possibly etc etc.) that itd be worthwhile to someone to make one! does my head in that it hasnt happened yet & that its apparently not financially viable. seriously, how many thousands of these bikes are out there & still being bought(and will continue to be bought new for the next couple of years)! plus theres every chance that the 14 wont change either but thats a different thread topic. dont wanna sound like a total whinger but its just incomprehensible to me. seems like $ just sitting there going to waste. cant fathom the logic of sitting on hands till a new model comes out, $ down the drain it would seem to me. but hey what do i know

Hey everybody, just thought I'd share some email correspondence that I had with Clockwork.Still no luck but we'll see.

Not right now! Just FYI, it's about a 6 to 8 month project from start to finish, and I'd need a bike to use to model the tank on. We're just getting finished up with everything on the new KTM tanks, the EFI part has been a nightmare, AND I'm headed for shoulder surgery in the next few weeks. So my ability to really do anything would be limited for a while. Also, based on the time of year already, I'd definitely want to get an idea on what Husky is doing with their models for 2013 before I'd even to commit to doing anything.

Hey Tim,
We've given it some thought, but we're not real keen on doing it for a chassis model that has been around this long. At some point they have to develop a new chassis, which then makes more sense for doing a tank. With this chassis model having been around for so long, I don't think we'd be able to sell enough tanks to re-coup our costs, unfortunately.

It takes anywhere from 125 to 150 tanks sold just to re-coup the initial development, modeling, and mold costs.

Too whom it may concern, I and allot of other people in the U.S. , Australia and Europe are less than impressed over the lack of a good over size gas tank for the Husky 250/300model year2006/2012.I currently have an IMS 3.4 and it is by far the ugliest pos tank I have ever seen them build. The Clarke is also fugly and carries the gas to high. All we are looking for is a tank that has the same fit and finish as the stocker that carry's the gas lower and is 3 to 3.5 gallon capacity. This topic comes up quite a lot on Cafe Husky and we feel their is enough 250/300 riders out there to make it worth your while. What do you think? I know you guys make awesome KTM stuff but the topic comes up alot on cafe husky what bike should I buy? Alot people are going husky because of the price of the KTM, me being one. With about 1000 to 1500 price differnce leaves alot of money on the table for after market goodies and suspension revalve. You never hear of anyone getting an oversize tank because the 2 that are availalbe are crap and ugly.
Thanks, Tim Morrison.
UPDATE PEOPLE! I EMAILED CLOCKWORK BACK WITH AN UPDATE TO THIS THREAD AND HOW IT IS STILL GENERATING INTEREST AND THAT THE 2013 BIKES REMAIN THE SAME AND THAT IF THEY BUILT A NICE TANK IT WOULD ALSO FIT OLDER 125-AND 360. THEY EMAILED ME BACK AND SAID NOW THEY MIGHT DO IT. THEY WOULD NEED SELL 150 TO BREAK EVEN. WHO'S IN?I'LL BE NUMBER 1 CUSTOMER NOW WE NEED ANOTHER 149, COME POEPLE.
