  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc 250/300 Stock gas tank ?

454x

Husqvarna
Pro Class
How big is the stock gas tank on the 250/300? 2009. Also what kind of range would one expect?

mine is just shy of 2.5 gal, i get some where between 60-70 miles out of a tank. 09wr300
Thanks for the info. I'm not liking the pos fugly IMS that came on my wr 250. Any one out there have a stocker they want to sell or trade for an ugly 3.4 gallon IMS? Any takers???:banghead:

Yeah, I am interested in trading. What is so bad about the IMS?
Although it does hold alot of gas I don't like the ergonomics or fit and finish. IMS built 1 tank to fit a 4t and 2t. It probably looks good on the 4t and fits better as well.It serves its purpose but I just don't like the profile it gives the bike. I bought my bike used so I don't have the oem tank.I also only ride about 35 to 50 mile loops so I don't need the super tanker.

The stock Husky 2 stroke gas tank 2006 up to 2011 is 11 quarts. I have added a extention with a dry brake to mine and it now hold a few ounces less then 3 gallons At race speed I get 45 miles out of a tank .Which is about 15 miles to the gallon .That is on my 300 If you are racing any of the AMA off road races like the Nationals the rules state gas stops every 40 miles but you can be up to 10 persent off. So no more then 44 miles which i have done on the stock tank

Yes off a late model TXC Husky Then set up by Zip Ty Racing They do work well I also have a custom Olins rear shock on it the bike really works well
But I still want to get a set of the new Red Marzockie

Where did you get the Olihns shock? I just vented some frustration in a nice little email to IMS .I doubt anything will come of it but it felt good.

Here's mine. It's homemade, but works great.

I made mine from some junk I got off ebay, but I've still got a couple hundred in it. The dry break is what cost the most. Inside the tank is a Clarke MFG. back up ring for mounting dry breaks to their tanks. The riser bolts to it and the dry break bolts to the riser. There's a rubber gasket under the riser.

the one from GMR is like 200 dollars 100 for the aluim riser and then 100 to cut, mold and install to my tank I sent my tank to them and received it back all done and ready to race
Plus the cost of the dry break unit which you can purchace from them or many other places

Hey everybody, just thought I'd share some email correspondence that I had with Clockwork.Still no luck but we'll see.

Not right now! Just FYI, it's about a 6 to 8 month project from start to finish, and I'd need a bike to use to model the tank on. We're just getting finished up with everything on the new KTM tanks, the EFI part has been a nightmare, AND I'm headed for shoulder surgery in the next few weeks. So my ability to really do anything would be limited for a while. Also, based on the time of year already, I'd definitely want to get an idea on what Husky is doing with their models for 2013 before I'd even to commit to doing anything.

Hey Tim,
We've given it some thought, but we're not real keen on doing it for a chassis model that has been around this long. At some point they have to develop a new chassis, which then makes more sense for doing a tank. With this chassis model having been around for so long, I don't think we'd be able to sell enough tanks to re-coup our costs, unfortunately.

It takes anywhere from 125 to 150 tanks sold just to re-coup the initial development, modeling, and mold costs.

Too whom it may concern, I and allot of other people in the U.S. , Australia and Europe are less than impressed over the lack of a good over size gas tank for the Husky 250/300model year2006/2012.I currently have an IMS 3.4 and it is by far the ugliest pos tank I have ever seen them build. The Clarke is also fugly and carries the gas to high. All we are looking for is a tank that has the same fit and finish as the stocker that carry's the gas lower and is 3 to 3.5 gallon capacity. This topic comes up quite a lot on Cafe Husky and we feel their is enough 250/300 riders out there to make it worth your while. What do you think? I know you guys make awesome KTM stuff but the topic comes up alot on cafe husky what bike should I buy? Alot people are going husky because of the price of the KTM, me being one. With about 1000 to 1500 price differnce leaves alot of money on the table for after market goodies and suspension revalve. You never hear of anyone getting an oversize tank because the 2 that are availalbe are crap and ugly.
Thanks, Tim Morrison.
