• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC 2019 300tpi Broken Subframe

NH-JP

2nd Fastest Old, Slow Guy!
Was riding / training SingleTrack on Tuesday when I noticed that I was getting a strange tinny vibration noise.
I kept trying to figure it out. It was not consistent enough for me to diagnose in the field.
Sounded down low, so just finished up and "limped" it home.

After getting it home, I noticed that my header pipe had some play in it and was vibrating.
It has been banged up a bunch already, and blown back out so I was not thinking too much about it, but it turns out that I had broken the right hand side leg of the subframe.

The exhaust was then acting as the structure to hold the stiffness of the bike, and it started to fold the pipe right near the exhaust of the engine!

Pretty wild!

First time having a subframe issue between my 2017 and now with almost 70 hours on the 2019.
Are you all finding that the newer model ones are more brittle?

No one locally had it in stock, but luckily Rocky Mountain did. With the holiday I will have it on Tuesday.

I can’t believe it. Spent Wednesday and Thursday at a Graham Jarvis training event.
What an awesome opportunity!
Working on wheelies I looped the bike and broke the center section of subframe!
2 subframe breaks within like a week and a half.
Luckily, again, Rocky Mountain had it in stock and had it by 11:00am the next day.
It would seem I am destined to keep breaking them.
I’ll post photos when I get back home.
Away for a 2 day riding event in northern New Hampshire and Vermont.
Fall is here in New England for sure!
The bugs are gone, and the humidity has left. Probably the best time of year to be out riding.
I hope you are out and enjoying it too!

Terrible luck! Can’t speak for the newer ones but I’ve never had a single issue on my 15. I’ve beat on it pretty good and bailed pretty hard quite a few times. I used to worry about it but considering what it’s gone through it seems like it’d take quite a bit (knocking on wood as we speak )

Wow that's pretty bad..... I have ridden my 18 TE 150 pretty hard and I have not seen anything stressed out like that....

I have not had any further issues this season, despite some really hard enduros where I lost count how many times my bike went down.
I just thought that it was really strange that I went from having ZERO issues for years and then coming a wave like that.
