• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC 2018 TX 300

Cannot answer exactly as I don't know the '17's. The key thing for me is it's a late model 300 with a carb. I can fix jetting issues but wasn't ready yet to hold out for next years EFI. I'd rather wait a couple of model years to see how that shakes out.

No, I use the same set up on all three bikes with a top mount from BRP. That way I can swap the Scotts b/w bikes.

I'm 6'1" but with a long torso and short legs and don't like raised bars. Stock height works for me as compromise b/w standing and sitting.

Sorry for duplicate pics. New to posting them.

If you want to add a mirror on the clutch perch as I've done with Doubletake ones in the past, the old Brembo mount with the Ram ball won't work. You need one that will fit the Magura unit which operates as more of a hinge style.

Ned gave me a part number to try and I'll post it once I get it if it fits.

In all honesty....If my '17 was "blue-plated" street legit.....I'd have lost my license by now....I use to have an '07 TE 450 that was plated for street....I was just one cop sitting at the right corner away from losing my license then!!!

Learned today that some 18 Huskys come with Magura rear master cylinders and some are now or soon to come with Brembo ones. Ive been told various stories on this but no one can say there is a consistent part number for a certain bike.

Pics show my Magura master, which I learned last night doesn't fit the Rekluse LHRB shipped to me over the weekend. Talked to Rekluse today and they seem like nice folks and are working on it, but no definite available date yet for a new product. One option is to buy a used Brembo master which should fit with current lines. I'm going to try that route and will post updates (although likely delayed as I'm still awaiting full access approval). Another is the Ox Brake. I talked to Chuck and he hopes to have a final for the Magura cylinder by October.

Looks like a brake pressure switch on your 18 TX300: what brand? I have an Enduro Engineering rear brake switch for the 17 Brembo rear master cylinder - will it work on the 18 TX300?

Sorry, dealer installed so I can't say for sure. I'm told the Brembo vs Magura MC is a direct swap so I'm guessing it should work. I may know more in a few days.

The brembo magura thing anyone know more?? Current 18 tc s Moto bikes have all brembo brakes while te models have.magura .. what would irritate me would be to buy a 18 tc and then the next batch has magura . I've heard rumor all husky will one day have magura to separate more from ktm that.will have brembo...anyone k ow the truth?

Early word was Husky would go Magura, then some would have Magura and some Brembo, now the rest of the '18s will be Brembo. Probably subject to change

I'd say if Jay Hall doesn't know.... No one does!

Not sure forgot to ask jay...but rumor I heard also is will be.magura but could of been a supply issue and no one really knows for sure what the next batch will have...

Hmm, maybe no one cares? Anyway, first brief jetting run from 6-7000. 3rd notch is too high as I suspected. I'll drop it tomorrow after I get up to Crested Butte. The bike feels much lighter than my FE 350 or older 500 XCW.

Decided to give the 2nd gen Tubliss another shot. Don't know why since I had poor luck w the much older first generation but was talked into it by some local riding friends who said my preferred mousse choices would make the bike feel heavier. Since it's so light I decided to try to keep it that way, but was regretting that call about halfway through the rear Tubliss install. Mousse were so much easier IMO.
Tubliss adds some complication, but you'll get the routine down. Just like when learning how to mount with mousse the first few are a pain. I've switched to WD-40 Specialist Silicone (yellow and black bottle) as a bead lube. Works really well. It also helps to pull out the tubliss instructions each time you mount a tire and follow their starting position suggestions. I think with tubliss it's faster now than with tubes for me to put on a tire. Though, as mentioned in this thread, it is definitely dependent on the tire you are using. I had a real tough time mounting a D-803 GP. But my Golden Tyre GT216X and my Battlecross X30s go on without any swearing, or throwing of tools. ;-)

Same here. I'm 6'1" and short legs. I run a husky low seat, fastway pegs in lowboy position which both lowers and sets them back. And bars in the stock height - forward mount to give some room in the cockpit. It's darn near perfect. I absolutely hate raised bars because they end up feeling like they are in your gut -- all the time.

My mileage after adding the Lectron yesterday was 27mpg with 4-2m rod. The bottom end was stronger than the stock Mikuni but that could also be due to the V Force4 I added at the same time. Trail was a combo of hard and easy ST, dirt and paved road. Not pleased with first result since I was getting over 30, and one time 35, with the stock Mikuni settings.

Will maybe try some rod adjustments as I'm interested in the promise of not having to change jetting for Colo vs Ariz rides but was also expecting much better mileage.

2018 300 TX. 6-9K. 50-55 degrees. Typical Colo dry.

Where did you get it from? Slavens tunes it for the area. They've been really helpful and I'm sure would answer all your questions

I really like the HV Lectron on my '17 TX300. I run the Green spring in the power valve because all I ride is single track. The power delivery is so linear, it's better than any 4T I've owned. Props to Slavens and Lectron for the development of this HV mod. I have messed with this thing a lot throughout the summer and this fall. The HV runs rich. Period. The old lectron on my WR300 was able to be adjusted from lean to rich with just 3/4 of a turn in either direction (obviously not HV modded, and a different metering rod). With the HV lectron I've settled on just a little rich, and I'm leaving it there. I've also noticed that any change in metering rod height directly effects the power jet adjustment. You have to be careful about it because you can lean out your top end way too much if you leave the power jet alone after adjusting the metering rod. I've also found the new husky engine is prone to ping if its too lean on top.
