  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC 2016 Fe350s With Idle Issues At High Altitude

B Class
2016 fe350s. Mostly stock. I had the euro map installed at munn racing otherwise only mods are protection parts. Recently I got a "BestDualSportBikes" endcap for $50 off a local guy and put that on. At the "advice" of some online board members I tried adjusting the TPS from .68 to .63 and then back to stock at .582. Regadless of TPS I was having the same two issues. At high altitude the idle would get very low, to the point that it would sometimes die as soon as it dropped to idle. I raised the idle in this situation and when I came back down to my home altitude the idle was 3000rpm according to my aftermarket tach. It had been 2000rpm when I set out but wasn't high enough to keep the bike going at altitude. The other issue is that on throttle off downhills the exhaust pops an crackles like crazy. It sounds like fireworks going off. Is it possible this is all due to the endcap? I do not recall having this idle issue before adding the endcap and playing with the TPS. My rides take me from 4,000ft home altitude to over 12,000ft to give you an idea of the range.

reset ...remove OEM ECU and install Vortex ECU. Leave it set as delivered by Vortex unless you want to tinker.....plug and play unit. Pay up front and never chase your tail again.

I'm going to try going back to the old endcap first. Those vortex ecu's aren't cheap and I dont feel like I really need anymore power, I just want it to run well, which it was before the endcap change.

Start bike and not touch the throttle for 10 minutes or until the motor is at operating temp Shut off, gear up and ride.
