  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2014 TXC 310 R Warrenty

So I am having some issue's (Oil leaks out behind the timing shaft at the oil supply line going to the head) with my 13 day old 2014 txc 310r with 1 hour on it. In order to fix it looks like the head needs pulled off and the cams need pulled out, only to replace a 5 cent O-ring. I bought this bike from a dealer 6 hours away in West Virginia because I couldn't find a 310 locally. Now I am going to take it to the local dealer. I called up there and they told me that the warranty only covers parts not labor.

Does anyone know if this is true? The part is probably less then $5.00 but the labor will probably be more like $400.00. I know they say its a race model but the bike has not even been run yet. I feel like everything should be covered. Does anyone have details on this warranty.

Sounds like BS to me. A warranty is a warranty, its obviously a manufacturing defect and nothing you did to it. The bike has one hour on it...For what its worth, I had the starter gears replaced on my 13 txc 310 with 3 hrs on it 100% free. They even mapped the Leo Vince map for free for my trouble. Sounds like a crappy dealer.

Same here; parts and labor. Your purchasing dealer should go to bat for you as mine did. Bike purchased in Colorado and warranty completed in Arizona. Both dealers were excellent to deal with.

Right out of the manual that came with my 2014 TXC310R:

The warranty consists in replacing or repairing free of charge the vehicle or components that might show manufacturing defects over this period or defects, already existing before the vehicle was delivered.

Either the local dealer is a Husky dealer or not - part of their dealer agreement is to repair bikes under warranty regardless of where it was purchased. Seriously, why would any dealer turn away work? Being a street legal motrocycle also opens up a whole extra level of protection by your state. Get the local dealer on the phone and demand they perform the warranty repair.

He didn't say they are turning him away. Who knows...maybe they want to double dip by charging him and billing Husky. It is certainly shady that they are telling him labor is not covered under the warranty.

He also doesn't know with any certainty that only an o-ring is needed. How do we know there isn't an issue with the head or another part?

The OP's bike is not street legal is it?

Oh snap - you are right. I read TE instead of TXC. That narrows enforcement considerably. That being said, I am sure the state attorney general would be interested. The macro is that a valid warranty is not being honored by Husqvarna. The dealer is acting on behalf of Husqvarna in this case. I would best that Husky NA or KTM NA would get the ball rolling quickly.

What is the time on a TXC? 90 days?

My TE with power up has a 30 day warranty. Perhaps that power up kit cuts the warranty period but I have never confirmed that.

That's weird - I will check tonight, but I was almost certain my book said my TE (a 449) was a 6 month warranty. I'll look tonight. I would think that they would have a standard 1 for "competition" and 6 for "dual sport".
