As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Sounds sweet!all 3 loops different. we left from base at Rancho Santa Veronica, to first gas in a field went out from there to L2 returned to same field for lunch and fuel then went out on L3 for return to RSV and finish.
Like I said to Rob, sounds sweet! I was just confused, when you said... "Third loop was much cleaner and less drama on those parts.". Sounded almost like you rode some same trail twice. Thanks for clearing that up. I'm glad you had a good ride! All 3 were different. 1st was tight with minimal tech; 2nd was more techie and boulder-y...think of riding up narrow stream beds, third was tight and technical boulders and then opened up with some cool rock slabs. One was maybe 15 feet high, pretty cool terrain. Third loop was definitely my favorite.

That was me for sure! I was worried about my legs giving out but it was my arms that did me in-I was cramping up so bad that I couldn't work the clutch or brake (or even hold on). I houred out before even making it to lunch. VERY disappointed, becuase it was awesome riding conditions. I'd like to go back to that stinking rock hill that did me in and see if I could make it up decently without the crowd of stuck riders that were littered all over it. (I added to the carnarge but at least my bike gave some fast guy good traction as he wheelied over it going by! After that hill I was toast.Second loop was full of carnage; bikes tipped over, bikes upside down, bikes over heating, guys cramping, failed work around attempts, just a war zone. quote]
I gotta chime in! That Enduro was awesome!! Although being my first, I had nothing to compare it to. I was on the front row so I got to see plenty of fast guys 2-3 times that day. Ivan passed me like I might have been going backwards.. Ty Davis made it look like he rode every part 30 times prior. Bummer to hear he got ill, figured that since I saw him twice on the side of the trail with his helmet off. Ian was on the grid next to me. Don't feel so bad now he left me so easily.. I didn't make loop 3. Note to self for next year.. Don't help so many people because when you f#$% up- you don't have a time cushion. Maybe that's good Karma for next year- helping install 2 chains and dragging 2 bikes up the rocky sh!t.Loved it!
First special test of the third loop (ST5 part one), started after a fairly tough transfer section from the lunch/fuel stop. Note this is not me, this guy is faster then I am, especially at that point of the race!
