    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

2014 TE 310R, new to the club here! Mods?

I'm just not tall enough or flexible enough to use the factory side stand. FabOneUp has a 310, is shorter than me, and has no problem, but I'm quite a bit older. Anyway....

I just cut out some 1/4" mile steel plate in the shape of the stock stand top, drilled and tapped for a 10mm bolt, cut a Chromoly tube and doubler and put a 20 degree angle on it. Fab did the welding. I left it long, as you can see from the pic below, and scribed the bottom for the angle I wanted. The foot is 3" diameter and that's probably way big for this bike as it will never be heavily loaded. The bottom plate of the top lug is "long" on the front side so it fetches up against the frame to make it solid when down. Fab did the welding when I was visiting.

A problem is that the stand does stick out too much on the left side as the bike is very slim. Optimally it should not project beyond a line between the rear wheel and the exhaust can. If I fall on that side, the stand will take a hit. I don't care as I trail ride and don't ever race. I need to be able to get on and off on rough and sloping ground above all else. The projection issue can be fixed but it would require modifying the pivot point on the bike and that's more than I want to do now.

Picked-up a 2014 TE310R.
Had TXC310 map set by dealer as well as airbox and muffler work. Bike rips! I was stupid to tell them to throw away the airbox restrictor, should have made an airbox cover to wash bike with!
13/40 is stock gearing. Ordered 50T rear+chain.
Anyone installed HDB handguards with undermount scotts damper??? That is the setup I want!

I believe the 13& 14 comes with magnetic plug and stronger radiator guards. I'd add getting an FMF exhaust and getting rid of that 02 sensor.

Thanks for the info on the kickstand mod. I cut the oem stand down and am getting the oem foot re- welded in place. I'll post a pic when completed.

Cutting the length down will help I think, and it was an early option for me too. I also though about making a larger foot pad that projected out away from the bike an extra inch or inch and a half. Don't know how or if that would work but it's worth a shot.

It could restrict flow or obstruct the wavy washer on the back side. If placed on the outside/cover side it may keep the filter from fitting as tightly/close to the cover restricting flow. If the magnet is thinner than the grommet when compressed it "may" be OK. The 13 and 14 models do have a sump plug magnet in any case.
 
My aluminum sub-frame reinforcement piece to go under the rear fender is in, and I am beginning to pull off plastic to let me install same, and also to lift the tank with the Zip Ty spacers. Any thoughts of mounting a light tail rack to carry any kind of tools at all have vanished. The rear sub-frame on the 310 is super light, and similar in design to the 630. To carry anything the casting will need to be reinforced with a plate below extending to the sub-frame down tube. Later, maybe. For now I will cut and carve on the plastic tail light/license plate carrier and install the reinforcement piece so that I can bolt on a place for my Wolfman Enduro bags to connect. There needs to be something in the back for that, and a tail rack normally suffices. An option would be to strap to the turn signal stalks, but I don't think they would survive very long. Sub-frame reinforcement is definitely in the cards, but down the road a bit; hope this isn't a fatal mistake but as long as no weight is back there all should be fine.
 
Hi guys. I have a TR650 and I am thinking of getting another bike for more off road single track riding. I like a bike to be street legal to hop on and off roads. How does the 310 handle off road? More like a dirt bike?

It's an agile dirt bike with a plate, cuts the gnarly up like a scalpel.
 
I know most dirt riders don't bother to balance their wheels/tires, but I did that today and what a difference on the road. I won't be spending much time on the pavement but it will be a lot more pleasant now.

Before you balanced the tires did you get a vibration around 45-50mph? I can't tell if it's the engine or speed of the bike.
 
For other tall riders (I am 6'3") and made some 1" handle bar risers that work great. Easy to make too

I spent some time on the 310 today getting ready for my next ride.

Added a connection point on the rear fender or my Wolfman Enduro bags. I put spacers between the lower plastic cross piece and the white fender, and bolted a d-ring to the top. To prevent the plastic fender from tearing up from a small (8mm) bolt I used a left-over bushing from my Yamaha plastics. There is a 3 liter bottle in my left bag and it is just swallowed up. I will need to carry extra gas and I will empty the bottles as soon as there is room in the tank.

Here is the connection point. The straps were just barely long enough to reach; maybe I shortened them previously for one of my other bikes.

In the pic above there are two add-on heat shields. I got rid of the aft one as it's not needed. The front shield is there to make sure the loaded bag doesn't press the plastic into the pipe. I will likely not carry gas on the left side, or if I do, it will be minimal and used asap.

Zip Ty's recirc system is on, along with an Enduro Engineering skid plate.

HDB guards are on the way and should be on before this weekend. Time to get her dirty!

No, Zip Ty supplies a plug for that and it more or less captures the end of the screen. Remove the plug and the screen comes along, although I had to separate them for install and removal. There just wasn't enough space to put them together and slip into the case. Not a lot of space down there but I guess one gets used to the situation.

My first oil change had little bits of orange/yellow stuff (sealant?) and very slight grit that I could feel but not see. The magnetic drain plug had some fine fuzz. All in all about what I expected.
 
So I added pics to my post 6 & 7 for you guys to see the scotts damper mount drama.
Here is the IMS 2.9 gallon next to the stock 2.1 gallon!
I was surprised, it looks the same, even smaller in some places....
