• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2014 Sherco 2T & 4T 300's... quick test ride

Here's the standard front tyre. Michelin Enduro Competition 6 - 90/100/21

See the ribs between the knobs? ... they shed mud when the tyre flexes.

Boogie, I ran my new Bridgestone X30 Battlecross tyres on the weekend up at Kenilworth.
Lots of surface changes, gravel roads, loam, wet clay and river crossings on wet rock.
They are the best tyres I've run on, full stop!

These are my tyres, I'm in love :D

x 2

I haven't tried the front but have an X30 rear on the 310. Best tyre I've tried.

We should update our thoughts here... http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/anyone-tried-the-bridgestone-battlecross-x30.43461/

Not sure what the official price is in the USA, but current Canadian MSRP is $8200 USD for a 15 TM 300en. Add $400 if you want KYB SSS forks and rubber mounted bar clamps.

The USA distributor has 2015 2strokes in stock, and last I'd heard the 4strokes were coming soon.

So about 11,500 Can with KYB and taxes in WTF. Dealers all around Canada are complaining they can't sell dirtbikes. Wonder why lol.

All my eggs are tied up in my new husky basket. I liked my 12 Tm alot! With rubber mounted bars and kayaba sss forks that bike may be the ticket. I had and issue with parts. And had the dealer and dstributer pointing the finger at one another. I myself was leaning towords it being the distributer fault but who knows.... I kept the bike on craigslist for awhile at a fair price ($4000) not really caring if it sold or not. It took a month but did sell late late in the season. This is my chapter three do it for the crown (Husqvarna) out of sheer loyalty.... If this bike does anything that i consider the bikes fault to dissapoint me I'll sell it at a loss and if I knew without any bs I could get parts (and with a new distributer should be OK?) I would jump back on the Tm bandwagon so long as I could get clutch pull to be as easy as the husky. No loose parts. Nothing strange. Super nice chassis. Reasonable brakes (nothing and I mean nothing beats brembos) very good engine. No penalty's besides a slightly ridgid but precise chassis and minor parts things...but not much for riding a obscure brand bike....and a great story on how Tm started in the first place! Gas tank size is a issue...aluminum factory tank I am told eats seat covers and does not fit right. Overpriced ridiculously big safari tank looks hilarious. ...and replace steering stem bearings with Honda part ....easy to jump on and ride fast and engine rarely stalls and does not need a flywheel...very nice when compared to the scary fast obnoxious 99,Tm I had...

Go ride that freaking bike you bought...lol

Believe me I can't wait!! The last ktm's I ride seemed just fine! And the reality is I could win on a Suzuki! Lol.... It looks nice...seemed to have a bit of vibration at the bars even thou I bought the Scotts rubber submount...but without getting some time on it who knows..fifteen minutes in cold weather and frozen ground don't tell me nothing. Can't wait****************************************

Do you have flexx bars?

No. Bought the Scotts rubber mounted sub mount. I guess fifteen minutes in freezing temps doesn't really tell me much! Didnt want to cook the engine so just puttzed around a little. Flex bars sound nice but not sure if a problem if you cut bars down to 28.5 or 29 that's what I typically run.

I found the correct link to buy the mag in digital form here: http://au.zinio.com/www/browse/issue.jsp?skuId=416321317
Quick sum up below.

1. KTM: + Best overall package IN STOCK TRIM. - Gives away some bottom and top end to both Beta and Sherco
2. Beta: + Good user friendly engine. - Suspension lacks (sachs)
3. Sherco: + Exciting power. - Can be a handful in tight terrain but biggest complaint was an unbalanced chassis.

Although I'm biased, the complaints on the Sherco really sounded like set up issues.
"handful in tight terrain"? - my 310 is more of a handful in tight terrain than the Sherco in MILD MAP. They also said it may have been lean and added to the pronounced hit.
Chassis imbalance? They have a long term test bike and I suspect they'll end up running 105-110mm rear sag and forks close to flush with clamps.

Another point they made is the price difference being 1000/1400 cheaper for the Sherco/Beta. That alone should knock the pumpkin off the pedestal.

Transmoto update on their test bike below. There were a few things in the comparo that didn't add up to me (see above). It sounds like Transmoto have them worked out now. Apparently there was an anomaly with the PV creating the pronouced hit when getting on the pipe. Also, they figured out that these bikes like more rear sag.

I'm liking mine even more with a gearing change from 14:48 to 14:52, moved rear wheel forward about an inch, sag close to 110mm, forks at 2 lines down and a few clicks here and there.
This bike exceeds my talent 10 fold. Love it.

I see its turned into a bit of a coaching day... I'm jealous! That'll be fun regardless of which bike you're on.
Looking forward to your thoughts on both bikes.

I've got a cold at the moment so not even riding today dammit.

The article about the SE R 300 in the latest transmoto deserves a plug. Digi copy here: https://transmoto.com.au/magazine/
Worthwhile read for any owner or potential owner.
Stage two will be in a few months and they're looking at jetting and PV settings. Should be interesting too.

Bugger! :(
I'll let you know how they go!

Eagerly awaiting your report DM. In the next year I'm going to need to consider a new race bike so I can return the 449 to dual sport duty and not beat it too badly. Target machine is a 300 smoker.
