• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2014 Sherco 2T & 4T 300's... quick test ride

I am sure the hint is in the name of said "map" (soft) don't reckon he's soft enough to use the soft map ! :D

Almost sounds as good as the TM 300 , almost....

That was good, thanks for that. Amazing control in all the aspects - liked how he gave out that yelp at about 4:05 when that ditch showed up. No boobles, no sliding of either wheel - amazing!

Fabian was on rail in that vid... Impressive hey!

Adam Riemann (motology) reckons the soft power map is best for enduro work... I agree because I'm soft too :)

Hummm seems the Sherco's aren't soft on power after all. I know the TM's aren't as my son has the 2011 TM 250 MX and it's a freeking rocket and a FAST one at that! Good read; thanks for the post up.

Write up here on the new 2015 range...

The Husky Xlite gets a mention in the 450 news:

The standout feature of this Sherco engine, however, is the head design. The 450SEF motor is a DOHC unit, but to keep weight and unnecessary size down, it uses a single cam-chain gear design (the most recent bike to use this was the Italian-built Husky TE250/310). The design is all about keeping moving parts to a minimum, thus reducing inertia, which in turn helps the bike turn better and feel lighter.

Ha ha, Na. I reckon it'll be a Sherco if I change.
Just gonna look at the TMs as the dealer is so close.
Just wish they didn't look like sun affected Yamahas!

Have you seen a TM in person? They sure don't look like a Yamaha to me. Not knocking Yamaha but the TM's are sweet looking extremely well built race machines. Let us know what you think.

Yeah, I was just referring to the colour. :)
New 2015 models arrive here in Aus maybe October.
I will look at them before I decide.

Great machines but kinda edgy race bikes and less a trail bike. Think stiff and fast.

Fast is good, stiff not so much.
You can option the KYBs instead of the Marzocchis.
They run their own design rear shock.

I reckon it'll be a Sherco I end up with from what I've seen around so far :)

The Sherco 300 SEF-R is 224 lbs. That's the same weight as their SE-R. If I had the money, I'd buy a SEF-R. But, unfortunately even the AJPs are beyond my budget at the moment.

Yes sir, 224lds or 101kg is a light bike, even if it were a 2 stroke.
I remember my old '84 XR250RE as 98kg, lightest 250 enduro at the time.
It had no water cooling & very little engine oil to get down to this weight....and made maybe 1/2 the power.

Exciting times we have now with choices :)

The 4 stroke 300 is lighter than the 2 stroke 250/300
I read somewhere that a ready to ride SE R 300, 9.5L fuel, bash plate and barkbusters = approx 117kgs

Will try dig up the info later (I'd weigh mine but don't trust the scales)
