• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2014 King of The Motos Live Feed

I now have done this race 2 times finished the first time but this year it was a bit harder and I did not finish in time. As you can see only 2 sportsman finished that is the whole idea sign up and do your best. If you finished then make it harder next year. as for it being a bike breaker I personally did not break anything last year or this year. My son rode my 2006 Wr 250 and he also did not break a thing this year.well he did break the tip off the rear brake petal . I even took pictures of the bikes at the finish to prove it can be done with no damage. If you watch, a lot of guys flipped or had there bikes get away from them I had non of that . I did not have any problems on any of the hills made everyone with no help I just took to long and went to slow to finish this year I am so happy that I did it and look forward to next year. So the local parts dealer made no money off me Must be a Husky thing tuff and non breakable

As for Jimmy Lewis yes he rides the course Yes he is the one who sets it up. Jimmy told me he just can not believe how fast the pros are. Jimmy also stated for next year he does not know what to do as what he layed out this year was about as hard as he can ride. Maybe he will have to hike some sections to lay it out
As for Gram Jarvis being at a disadvantage This is his 3rd year here. He know what to expect. Yes there were a few fast sections on the morning loop. But those fast sections were fast 2 track roads nothing hard like in a off road race
In fact the fast sections were the same fast sections as last year. A lot of the course had sections that we used last year. Also pre running is open all year long and Jimmy gives the GPS to all who sign up on Friday morning which is 2 days before the race. Even the sat qualifier 2 mile course was open for pre running. Cody put in a great ride and won hands down. Also Cody is not a desert fast type rider I have never seen Cody at a Desert or National race. Maybe for the world to see Jarvis not win just goes to show just how hard this King of the Moto stuff is

Brutal...Congrats all!

Any idea what happened to Kailub Russell?

Hopefully mechanical and not physical.

I thought Webb won KOM on a Beta 300 last year?

- Seems the trials based guys have some advantage and they sure made the hard stuff look EZ.

No pressure i'm just curious about whom lays the course out, i admit to being partial to the English. Interesting how close the first 3 riders were time wise, wow the littlest move and they would have lost a place. Cody Webb is damn sure a motercycle rider and deserves the win and respect, but hats off to any rider who finished on time really. All winners from my view. Can we say throttle control?

He did. He hasn't been on a 4stk in a while now. I saw his old 350 4stk the other day. It lives in Tennessee now.

Has anyone who isn't an A desert racer (Ajax) ridden this event or at least on this terrain?

I'm intrigued by this race but I have no idea how difficult the terrain is. Obviously it's not easy, but is it possible if you're smart and willing to suffer, or would it just be completely impossible for a B/C level guy?

If you factor in my age of 57 I believe I am about as good as a B rider even tho I am rated expert. at a Desert National Race the am class or b class takes off about 15 min after we do. The top 5 or so Am or b riders catch up to me in about 50 to 60 miles sometime a little sooner. So my take is this race has nothing so hard that you would not try it. But it just has this hard stuff all day. First year I paced my self and finished last place but finished. This year it was harder and I said the only way jimmy would get me to DNF was to make the cut off time shorter as I can ride just about anything. I just can not ride it fast enough to finish on time .I will ride again next year and see how far I can go
Look at it this way the view from last place is better then the one you see on TV or in the stands you will never know how far you can go until you try

From my limited experience I suggest you simply enter one of the Nat H&H at where you think your skill level lies and go for it, just do the first as a C rider, you may say OK I handled that, then sign as a B, then you will do all the same loops as the Pros and As. Also from my experience in the D37 desert Nat H&Hs as a top 5 40B and now 50A (yea sure, I feel like John on this A classification).
For Nat H&H, be prepared/practice very steep/stepped downhills, and practice riding smooth over loose sharp rocky stuff as well as cross grain, also have confidence to be aggressive while climbing some gnarly stuff as well.
participate, dont stand by and spectate. Like John said its much more satisfying to be in the game then on the sidelines.

I must say that it put a smile on my face when you kept going ! My pinky finger on my throttle hand was hurting too much after dislocating it in stage 1 then looping it and bending my bars just after check 2 on stage 2. Great JOB ! My sail just lost its wind :)... I am 38 years old ha ha

Robert, I am not driving from the east coast for a H&H race, my local hare scramble & enduro series will do just fine.

This event (KotM), on the other hand, would be worth hauling all the way out for at some point, provided it's feasible.

Hmmmm..road trip!

For what it is worth dept In a few weeks after the next National I along with my son Matt Plan to return to the Hammers and FINISH the rest of the second loop. Will keep you posted if any one want to join in

Here is your chance to try it at your own speed for free I will finish it. Might take more then one weekend. BUT I will finish it before the next one. I have it all on my GPS.
