  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TXC310R fuel filter change

Pro Class
working on my ex 2013 TXC310R sourced Mahle KL15 OEM supplier filters, sourced a kit of Oetiker SS single ear clamps (OEM) Type and an Oetiker Ideal brand crimper. Wanted to do the job correctly using OEM set up. All items were sourced from amazon dot com

Just got done all went well simple OEM set up back like new, OEM filter was very black and entire assy was discolored.

Oh no, not a KL15  #1 cause of more ZipTy dnf's last year than any other issue. The moment water hits that filter, they come apart. Like the clamps though.

The one we pulled out was very blackened, I did not know if that was "dirt" or some other chemical reaction to the filter media like water or alcohol etc. causing a breakdown of the filter with associated pieces of it downstream into the injector. Hopefully the injector does not have filter media fibers clogging it up.

Yes, we found filter material in our injectors. The filters are good, but they were not designed to work with ethanol in the fuel. Any fuel with ethanol will contain water which ends up eating that fuel filter. This is why we make our own fuel filters, from stainless steel. I should have new fuel filters to replace the KL15's in a week or two. They will be ultra light weight as well.

no worries the actual maintenance procedure was simple and quick (with the correct tools of course). we can always go back in and install the upgraded ZipTy Racing filter metal (CRES)media filter.

PS please keep the length dims the same so it plugs back into the same space in the convoluted fuel line as before, if not it will tend to bend/bow out the pump wire harness and the fuel pressure bypass return line

me and my photo issues.....I forgot to snap the before and after photos. I only shot the after we pulled the OEM filter, not even a shot of the blackened fish OEM filter anyway the set up is reinstalled and bike is back together. May have RipTyD join a ride party this weekend for a test.
