    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Let me start by saying I am very happy with my TXC which I have had from new. Its had a top end refresh but not the bottom.

At some stage in the future I will have to make a decision on whether I can get sufficient parts for a full rebuild or part it.

With this in mind would anybody here know of a rebuild thread that does the lot including parts kits. I am pretty gentle on it so will assume just normal wear and tear - nothing catastrophic.

I guess a TE310 may also be useful.

All bearings can be bought as standard bearings. It was a couple of years ago since I did my rebuild, so I dont remember witch bearing that had a track/slot for a security clip. I used a standard bearing without that slot and used locking fluid instead. Works fine . What you need if you wanna do a 100% rebuild is needle bearings for the big and small end of the piston rod. Except for that its no problem to make a new engine.
 
Thanks Soderberg. In Australia most Husky parts will go to back order so I will need to create a list of likely parts required (OEM or aftermarket) and order them prior to stripdown. I assume by reference to "standard" bearing is that they are available from industry and not OEM unique. Did you end of staying OEM for the rest (crankshaft etc)? Who do you buy your husky parts from?
 
My crank was okay so I didnt touch that. Changed the crank main bearings, all bearings in the gearbox plus all sealings. If I dont remember wrong it was 9 of them. I bought new plastic before they went out of stock, plus another kit from a private seller a year ago. Have also bought a used swingarm+linkage on eBay. Almost everything else is interchangable from other brands. Wheels from Gasgas and probably from other brands too. Brakes same on all Brembo bikes, suspension same on all KYB bikes (Yamaha, GG 18/19 and some more. Front and rear sprocket can also be found on other bikes. Just forgot the brands. What is hard to find is the plastic radiator guards and the frame protection. All other plastic parts can still be found. I buy all my parts from Halvard in Sweden. A +70 year old man who has sold Husky since the 70ies. He is still in business but doesnt fill up the store with new parts any more. First I call him and if he doesnt have it I go to eBay and buy used parts. I use ebay.com as I have a brother in the US. He brings me a yearly bunch of bike parts when we meet once a year. Not only Husky things :D
 
Pro X makes a connecting rod kit for the 310. I've had a few crank rebuilt using it. Cheaper than buying a whole new crank.
 
This is the bearings needed. The only seal I had left is the last row. All seals I changed could be found as standard. As I dont have the seals left, this is not everything you need but I hope it will help.

  • 6305 C3: 2
  • 6203 C3: 1
  • 62/22 C3: 2
  • 6002 C3. 1. This is the one with the slot for the security clip. The number is 6002.NC3 but I couldnt find it. Use 6002C3 and locking fluid.
  • 61806. 1
  • 6003 RS. 1
  • 628 2RS. 1
  • Seal 22x12x6. 1

I will take your bearings and match them back to OEM part numbers to confirm. To clarify, are the bearings partnumbers shown above for a particular brand? How did you determine they where the right ones? Load ratings etc?

I used mainly SKF but the numbers are standard codes. C3 is the tolerance in all bearings and most common in all engines. The higher the number the wider the tolerance. C2 i standard but is not written in the bearing code. C3 allow more oil between inne and outer ring, C4 even more. If you need I can give you outer, inner and width on each bearing. Than you can choose whatever tolerance you want.
 
Hi Soderberg thanks for the reply. Please see table below. The first 6 bearings relate to the crankcases. I cannot find 628 2 RS Miniature Deep Groove Ball Bearing.

Something missing from the crankcases is H800028959 Bearing (10x26x8 mm)

The 628 might be from something else I have taken apart. I had all Husky related bearings laying on my work bench. Perhaps the 628 was thrown together with the Husky ones by mistake, sorry. The name of the 10x26x8 is 6000 2rs. I dont have that among my old bearings though and Im sure I changed them all?

I could not find any reference to a 8x24x8mm bearing for this model and year so will work with 6000 2rs. Thanks for the information. While we are sharing, I would like to get any measurement data you have ("outer, inner and width on each bearing") as a start.
You mentioned a security clip for 6002NC3 (part H8000A6988) but I could not find a husky part number for it?

I have not mentioned seals as I have a full set. Was there anything else you remember ordering (snap rings, bushing, washers etc) ? Again I would be happy to take any info provided.

Its not really a clip as you normaly see it. The clip(ish) is a piece of sheet metal that is mounted with two tapered M5 or M6 bolts. You slide it into the bearing slot and fix it with the bolts. I have not read the manual in years, so my explanation comes from how I remember it .
