  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 txc 310 - clutch stops working randomly ! Overhear ?

Out on the trails, my bike clutch goes really liml- easy to pull and to the point where the bike stalls

The clutch wire is right next to the exhaust header , it gets really hot. Is it a temperature thing ?

What is causing this issue ?

I did bleed the brakes but it is still isn't working

Ideas ?

The clutch seems to come back to life after having a few minutes rest. Maybe it cools down ?
But literally the clutch feeling goes super soft

It got to the point where 3 times throughout the day the bike stalled. Clutch in came to a stop in gear. The bike stalled as if I didn't have the clutch pulled

Does heat seem like the bigger issue - or do you think there is some sort of air leak from the slave ?

I don't think it is possible to re route the line given that the slave is right by the exhaust header !

Going to try header wrap to see about keeping the heat down ? Any other suggestions or thoughts ?

I had the same issue a year or two ago on a big climb in CO. Clutch fluid was trashed and white specs in the fluid in the mc. Flush with new fluid. Make sure the clutch line is zip tied away from the header. As it was happening I could pump the lever for a bit but eventually would go soft. Wait a few minutes and feel was back but would soon go soft again. New fluid/flush sorted it.

i had same issue also on my te449. reverse bled clutch with syringe attached to nipple. worked awesome, use motul 5.1 fluid ( high heat resistance). videos on youtube show you exactly how. good luck!

I had similar issue and what I realized is that my rad was missing a little bit of coolant and my fan did not turn on. After topping up the collant my clutch was fine.
