  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 te449 Jumper plug

Hello,

I am looking to un cork my TE449. Apparently the 2011-2012 models came with a little jumper plug that would allow use of the BMW Race Map 2. The 2013 models did not come with this little plug. I called the dealer looking for this plug and they stated that they had never tried using one on a 2013.

Anyways has anyone tried putting the jumper onto the 2013 Te449? If you did where can I buy one? I have not been able to find one online.

Others will be able to tell you where to get the plug, but really all you need to do is joint the two pins together to form a circuit. You could remove the plug if need be and connect the wires using any connectors.

It is not a diode. Simple wire or switch, short circuit. On TE449 MY2013 works properly. "Race map II" will display on instrument panel.

Yes that's right, just it is named diode in the parts list.
At $4.50 it's cheap & won't fall out, rub on the frame & short or corrode. A wire will work.

Okay so I rigged up a piece of wire today as a jumper. The display read "race mode 2." I am much happier with the performance of the bike.
I considered the switch option but after today I agree that it would be fairly pointless. The "race mode 2" makes the bike run what I would describe as healthy. The factory street map is awful. The bikes response is unreliable. In fact I did my motorcycle road test today with the bike in street mode (was before installing wire) and I actually stalled it. I guess its what you could call a flameout.

Anyways I ended up still passing the road test thankfully. I also have a jumper on order so I do not have to use a piece of wire.

Next up I will take the catalytic converter off.

Thanks guys
