I am sure this topic has been written about to death, but I found a nice little handlebar switch at my local dealer and wanted to share. The waterproof switch is an add-on accessory for KTM two stroke models and is a convenient way of switching between maps for power vs. mpg. The switch only comes with the top half of the clamp which can be installed directly to your clutch or break, or you will need a bottom clamp to secure it to your handlebars as I did.

I used the standard map shunt which came with my 2012 TE 511 and soldiered / heat-shrinked the connections. Works great for me.

Was thinking of doing the same. Can you switch it in the fly, or does the power to the ECU need to be cycled before it takes effect?

Keihin ecu must be cycled, PCV or Bazzaz on the fly.

Also for 250/310 models (don't know if it's 449/511 compatible, I never looked), Husky OEM part number, 8000 H0590, double mode button, in the 2012 250/310 parts manual, fig 25 item 3.
That's what's on my 2011 TE310, it's always been set on race map 1 (so it's basically there for show).

I'd be interested in seeing an image of that part.

Does the mapping switch still work on a bike with the TXC ECU and 'powered up?'

Switches between power up and non-power up. When used with a powercommander5, switches between maps.

The blue OEM switch is only around $12. I'm pretty sure you can switch maps on the fly, definitely stationary, in gear engine running. In motion- not sure?

The stock ecu must be powered off completely before map switch.

Would the map switch make a big difference on a '12TXC310? After a FMF full exhaust & tune?

Tinken; So you're saying, with the PCV piggy back ECU, using the stock map plug socket + switch (ghetto or Touratech for example) you can do on the fly map changes?
    hrmmm interesting...

Would be useful for 'tard racing going between asphalt and dirt, like the bazzazz with map switch.

I understand the stock blue button to be an ignition map switch. The PCV has separate switch inputs for the fuel mapping.

Not on my 2010 TE450 it doesn't. Not tried while actually moving but it definitely goes from 'sel 1' to 'sel2' and vice versa while running and in gear with the clutch in.

Not only that, but you can tune two different maps for each gear. You could get a rotary switch and have dozens of maps.
