  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 Te310R

Been lurking a while and just purchased a new te310r that I'm picking up next weekend. Not sure what to look for and what to ask about the bike. Am I right in that I won't be able to alter the bike until after the warranty expires if I wish to have a warranty. I'm somewhat up on the starting issues but I'm weak on "power up" and all the efi tweaking. I certainly don't want a trail bike that stalls a lot. any coaching would help. Thanks.

Many dealers will help insure your bike runs decent and honor the warranty. Once beyond that stage there some simple ways to make it rip!

Tell your dealer you expect the bike to run like a Honda

Some have not been delivered running well (flame outs on decellerating/stalling). All it takes if needed is a reflash of the ecu to latest stock settings and, in my case, the open air filter frame. Have the dealer check whether your vin shows it is involved in the starter gear recall. That's about it as far as running right. You should check spacing below the left side of tank where the radiator hose may have some tank fasteners resting on it and the fuel hose close to the water pump. Clearance can be fixed by a shim that Zip Ty sells raising the front of the tank 5mm. If you have the hex screws a 3mm buttonhead gains space as well.

When you go to do your first oil change realize that the 13's do have a oil drain bolt in the sump. The manual doesn't show it but you probably will want to check that screen in the manual anyway. Just a easier/better way to dump the oil on occasion.
