  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Are there many parts that fit on the 2013 model from past years? Im purchasing my te saturday and everyone online says most parts i find are for 2011-2012 or something along those lines.

things im mostly thinking about

Plastics, Graphics Kits, Tailight tidy mounts, Handlebar stuff, and Engine parts

Is the 2013 a carryover in most regards besides the engine as i have come to see? Please tell me if im misinformed and thanks for help everyone!
 
very small changes have occurred to 449/511 models since introduced in 2011.graphics changed ,rear fender changed,they added a exh shield in 2012.took away the key switch in 2012,2013,2014.few wiring and switch gear refinements.dan
 
The graphics changed but not the plastics correct? Im looking at the slim options for graphics online and they all say for 2012. And by take away the key switch you mean there is no ignition key in them? how unsecure can that be? haha...

yes plastics have not changed.yes they took away the key switch starting 2012.all bikes have some pros and some cons,nevertheless,that was a bone head move by BMW for sure.dan
 
The only major change was a frame upgrade and wire loom change in 2012, but all mounting points are the same. All the bolt on goodies, exhaust, plastics (except rear fender) and engine mods carry across.
 
So parts for 2012 te 449 should fit 2013 in every area. Thanks much for help clarifying some differences for me everyone!
 
Pretty much any accessories or parts are interchangeable. For instance the shorter shock will also fit an '11....and in fact many people shorten the '11 shock. There is also much crossover between TXC and TE. Suspension is different, but transferable. Same for ECU.
 
Tinken let's not get out of hand yet, let me get used to bike as is before I look into engine stuff haha. I will in touch about the oil bypass tank and parts you offer soon!
