  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TE 310R decibel killer

RB7

Husqvarna
AA Class
Somehow or another my 2013 Te310R came from the dealer with a muffler that says right on it "not legal for highway use". It was delivered "powered up" and had the #2 map installed and the customary PU mods. I assume the muffler came off a TXC or some other Husky.
My understanding is that the stock TE muffler typically has a baffle in it mid way down its length that is restrictive but probably quiets the bike just enough to meet noise standards. I'm guessing that mine probably lacks this baffle. Please, someone, correct me if I'm wrong on some of my assumptions.
Anyway, for me, the noise is excessive. I'd like to be more stealth. I'd like to purchase a Db Killer like the one Rick Ramsey put on his 310 (the longer 8" one). But I read somewhere that they're no longer available. Does anyone know if this is true? Does anyone know if the bike will run decently with the Db killer and the #2 map? I'm an old geezer and rarely ever use/need all my bike's horsepower, but I want it to run cleanly. Where can I purchase the longer Db killer? Help!

you need to get into the parts catalog and look around at the mufflers and the associated parts for each model. check the part number on your muffler then go from there. if your after oem stuff thats the way to, all the part numbers are there. hall husky still has the pdf parts catalogs up so you can save them in your files fro reference.

Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to quiet the bike down without buying a Te muffler. ($$$$) I was thinking that the existing TC/TXC muffler with a long Db killer might be quieter, less restrictive and certainly cheaper than springing for the TE muffler with it's central baffle. Anybody have any experience trying to quiet down a '13 TE 310?

This one fits the 2013 TE muffler but not sure if it fits in the TXC. If your muffler has a hole in the bottom of the end cap for the mounting screw then it probably fits.
The bike will run fine with DB killer in.

My '14 TXC came with that exact db killer in the box of goodies. I'm very happy with the sound output, and it runs excellent.

Tinken,
Could you be more specific on where to weld the baffles? I'm thinking maybe 1/3 of the way down the center tube to weld a half-moon on the left side, then another 1/3 of the way down another half-moon welded on the right side...so that there is no straight path for exhaust to follow. Or should the half-moons be closer to each other. I imagine closer together would probably be quieter but more restrictive...
