  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

A Class
I am new to this site, but not new to Husky. Ready to buy a replacement for my 2005 TE250. The only bike that I have ridden over the past few years that I liked better is a 2008 KTM 250XCF. So my question is: Which Husky makes power most like the KTM 250XCF?

I don't mind winding-out a 250 four stroke, but I wouldn't mind the extra low end of the 310 as long as it doesn't give up too much on top. I am also a little concerned about vibration and smoothness since I once had a KTM 300EXC which wasn't as balanced (power & vibration) as KTM 250EXC.

Any comments are appreciated.

I honestly couldn't begin to compare the KTM to the Husky since I wouldn't be caught dead riding a pumpkin. I have a 2011 TXC250 that has acceptable low end and plenty of mid and top. A buddy has a 2012 TXC310 and loves the extra power. He did change the throttle to a milder cam to smooth out the power down low. As far as I know that is the only thing he has done to make the bike easier to ride.

I have a stock 2012 310 txc and my dad has a 2010 250 txc with Ty Davis head and full Leo exhaust. It feels like the 310 makes more power everywhere. When you wind the 250 up it makes good power but there is very little lugging power. With the 310 you can lug it or rip it with good power across the board.
