  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TXC 310 vs KTM 350 ?

KTM Motor is a little more pokey of the bottom end as you would expect. Suspension not as good-no linkage, it is still prone to kickout off uneven bumps, rocks etc. I still feel the head tremmors at speed on fire trails, certainly better than the 06-08'KTM's but would require a damper if it were to be one of mine
I still have reservations about the KTM reliability/build quality.
Total ride time 30 minutes-like the KTM a lot but overall I prefer my Husky but a lot of that is familiarity and bias.

I agree the no linkage part, I didn't like it. But alot less maintenance wise (less bearings)
Ask a KTM guy and he'll say 350 ask a husky forum and you'll get 310 :)
If I could afford a the 350 I would of most likely got one. In saying that though my 310 is excellent and I'm in love with it :)
I rode both and I really couldn't see the extra money or the KTM, I am not the greatest dirt rider though, I'm shore if you were an A grade racer you would see/feel alot more differences. I personally couldn't.
Both bikes have there little hiccups, just check out the 310's starting probs and bottom end bog (can be tuned out though)
Also some with the 350.
I love my husky and hope it continues to be an excellent bike, go with what you can afford and keep maintaned properly :)
For me it was the husky and I haven't looked back :)

I have a ktm sxf 350 (w/linkage) and use it mostly for Mx and fast trails. My te310 is used mostly for trail riding. Both bikes have suspension redone and the 310 is update with Leo Vince exhaust and txc ecu. The ktm has more power but I probably only able to us the extra power on the Mx track. I realy like both bikes - set up on the bikes is totally different so hard to compare. On the ktm, I have a gncc setup which works on Mx and trails - so for me and the type of riding i do would give the ktm the edge.

To be fair to KTM, there is a big difference between the xcf (linkage rear and CC forks) and the xc-w (no-link rear on OC forks). The xc-w is softer and more supple over rocks, but I did not like it at all, it was downright scary at speed. The xcf, on the other hand, felt firm (but not bad) at low speeds, and begged to go fast.

Yep, feels nose down a bit like the BMW 450's did. You would of course get use to that feeling but it is disconcerting to first up riders. I do not believe the mass centalisation has much impact on the smaller Husa, bit it is very noticable on the 570
