  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TE511 Coolant Q...

L4V

Husqvarna
My new 511's coolant is clear like crystal clear spring drinking water. Does Husky ship these units dry and the dealer simply filled w/water? What's the deal? Anyone ever seen clear coolant?
Dealer: Motor City, Avondale, AZ.

My factory coolant looked like muddy water after a few hundred miles... I never had any heating issues with it but when I drained it into a clear container and let it sit overnight there was separation in the fluid. I think the new modern coolants have additives that are engineered to protect the cylinder liner... Maybe your coolant was clear on top but cloudy on bottom as my 2012 was.

Last time I checked, mine was green but honestly I don't even want to turn the cap unless I'm going to change it because just turning
the cap a little causes the shit to spew all over. Anyone else experience this ?

My factory coolant also looked like muddy brown water. I suspect that Husky puts sealant tabs into the water channels before shipping, this would explain the brown color. I drained mine right away via the drain screw in the middle of the water pump due to overheating in Socal deserts. Refilled coolant with EngineIce. Ran the bike really hard last Saturday in Johnson Valley, CA. Rock crawling, slow and fast speeds, in 106+ degree weather, never over heated once.

My txc 310 from motocity came with castrol coolant (light blue) from the factory. It is a good idea to flush/change coolant on a new bike after the first few hours. In order to get rid of anthing in the system from assembley as there is no filter in the cooling system and little particals can wear the pump and seals. I use engine ice as well.

630 was green and clean. It's now blue (engine ice).

Do the bikes come filled with coolant from the factory, or does the dealer provide that?

Anyone know the answer to this Q?
Again, my coolant is clear & it tastes nasty like a petroleum-based agent is in there.
Email with Q sent to dealer - I'll post their reply.

Mine was also muddy looking after 875 km.
Changed to Engine Ice.
Manual says 1-liter, but it only held about 800-ml.

I really hope you did not "taste" it.

Was it like that befor you ran it? I check the oil, coolant, tire presusre, brakes, and a once over of all the bolts I can see prior to starting my bike for the day, every time.

bike comes from the factory with all the fluids filled including air filter oiled

My factory coolant was brown slime. I took the bike out yesterday on some slow tight trails and it started overheating and spewing out the brown junk. I drained what was left today and it was a brown oily liquid. I flushed the rest of it out of the system and will replace it with engine ice. Hopefully that stops the overheating from happening again.

this was mine after only 875 km:

Mine looked like the stuff you throw up after you've been puking your guts out for days, just the bile...

Mech at the dealer said the original oil was agip (or something like that), but no one could tell him what was the original coolant was, it could be lemonade! He suggested changing it quick smart.

Here's the coolant drain screw for the 449/511 if anyone needs to know..

Hi Tinken.... Well I was changing the coolant in my 13 TC449; replacing it with your waterless coolant and I overtightened that drain screw**************************************** The threads in the hole are stripped! Any suggestions on a fix??? Unbelievable****************************************

Once you add my XF coolant, you never have to change it again. Leave it in there the life of the bike, will never wear out.
