  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TE310 dies in single track

I've not heard of anyone getting the TXC ECU and injector installed under a warranty claim. Mine was $380 from BMP. Installation was not too difficult.

I didn't expect the dealer to pay for the upgrade but I did expect them to get the bike running good enough so it would be usable.

So I just talked to Halls service department and I am dropping my bike off later today to have the TXC fuel injection upgrade installed. Do you guys think I should have them check the valves since they will have the tank off? I have 95 miles and 6 hours on it now. They only charge $70 hour shop charge which is almost half what the rate is around my house. It is an 1 1/2 drive but should prove to be worth it IMHO. This is the North American Husqvarna Mecca right here in my back yard...:notworthy:

I just got mine checked (valves) after 25hrs, and they were all in spec. te250r.

If it were me, I would tell them to do to the bike, whatever they would do if it was their own bike. Especially if you are talking to Jay Hall or Steve (those are the only 2 I've talked to).

Those are good people.

The 12 point injector and race ecu was fitted to my bike te310 2011 and really it should of been there in the first place - it made a big difference.

Halls finished installing the kit around 1pm today and I just returned home. I test rode the bike for a bit after unloading and it seems peppier so far. I will suit up after dinner and go do a shake down run to get a better feel for the new setup. Halls took great care of me as usual.

Well it's official, my TE310 is now running like I expected it to when I bought it. The TXC injector and ECU cleared up the stalling and bogging issues. It rips at will. The G2 dirt tamer throttle tube I put on last month is really appreciated with the current tuning:D I am glad I did this early and didn't wait 6 months for my warranty to expire. It would have sucked riding it the way it was all this season..

HA! They just called me stating that Husky told them the only way to remedy the problem is to install the injector and ECU at my cost. WTF? So they didn't fix it at all. I am picking it up later tonight and calling Hall's in the morning to order the TXC ECU injector deal. Not much else to do if I plan to keep it. My buddy bought a 2013 KTM 350exc for 10k so I guess I have some head room in the $ area. I find it mind numbing that the stock 4 port and ecu can't be tweaked enough to make the bike able to ride single track.

It can, with a $200 JD Tuner. But the ECU/Injector combo is better.

My 2010 Te250 finally runs "good" with a lot of I-beat tweaking but it still doesn't run as good as my 2000 Wr400 Yamaha with a carb.

Where do I get this 12 pt and ECU upgrade at a good price?

Thanks

Well I am up in northern Wisconsin for the week and have ridden the last two days mainly logging roads and open single track and the bike has been flawless. Plenty of power everywhere. I am a happy camper.

Howdy! Glad to see she now rips as expected! Hey, what sproket/chainring/cog sizes are you running?

At least for my te310, it has been stunning how much of a difference some additional hours on the motor and suspension and swapping out the rear sorocket for a 50T has made. Completely different bike. I would recommend that anyone starts with changing the gearing and riding it some more before investing further in upgrades (this assumes that it was uncorked already). Addtional changes might still be desired, but you will be surprised what you can do with some time in the saddle and a new sprocket (and chain); affordable changes that make a massive difference.

I think the TXC Injector and ECU is the best combo upgrade. I have a 2010 TE 250 (still xlite motor) with JD Jetting tool, I also have 50 rear sprocket.. but no TXC Injector or ECU.. It's OK but still has a little delay to the power and has issues if I'm twisting the throttle fast - which is quite important if you're in the woods/trails. My WR450 carb is anxious , soon as I twist that sucker is cranking in no time, each and every time.

And if you get the TXC Injector and ECU mods to your TE, you will probably need to get the TPS reflashed or is that part of ECU? I don't know, these fuel injections are nice but require a bit of knowledge and proper tools to get it to run right. I'm sure it's worth it in the end - but it's a hassle.. One day I'll get the TXC Injector and ECU - but not having a nearby dealership or one that is incredibly knowledgeable definitely doesn't speed up the process

I got the 2012 TE310 deal that included the 12 point injector and a new ecu which they fitted and I still have the odd stall which is kinda like a cough before it stalls usually at very low rpm picking your way through some slippery rocks or pine logs. Being only 5'3 these stalls result in me falling over which is shitting me so much I'm going to book it in for a power commander and dyno to set it up properly .

Update. I went to the CADVR and rode the Husky for all 8 days. Put on about 45 hours and the bike ran and handled perfect. Rode between 140 and 220 miles every day, dual sport routes, lots of sand and gravel with some nice sandy trails as well. I changed to a 13/48 for the rally and it allowed me to cruise at 55 mph easily yet still rip on the trails with ease. The only problem I had was the Ballistic EVO2 lithium battery vibrated itself into the nether almost leaving me stranded in the woods. I limped home in 6th gear at 35mph keeping the vibes down and installed the OEM battery. All good now. This is the 2nd EVO2 I have destroyed. I can no longer recommend the Ballistic lithium batteries. Sad thing since they are built here but enough is enough. Are the EarthX any better or do they implode with vibes too?

I have the same bike and have slowly been tweaking things, staring with the lower budget changes. As I mentioned earlier, the gearing makes a huge difference. I just returned from a test ride after installing G2 Throttle Tamer. Wow, what a difference this makes. Simple and clever design that uses differently shaped cams to achieve more refined (nonlinear) throttle control. It is well worth the $60. Next up are better tires. Time will tell whether or not I need the EFI upgrade.
