  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TE310 dies in single track

Yes yet another thread with stalling issues. Some quick history of my bikes setup. The dealer removed the charcoal canister, O2 sensor, installed the jumper, removed the catalytic converter and changed the gearing to 13/50. The engine runs pretty well but when I ride tight single track I get some engine stalling and raspy throttle response. If I rip it over 5k it clears up until it gets tight again and then it won't stay running. I like technical tight single track so I need to figure this out soon because having the engine die while trying to hop a log sucks ass. I only have 4.5 hours and I hope it gets better as I run it in some more. Any thoughts? I am considering a 12t CS in the future but I do ride some pavement to connect trails and the gearing now is not ideal for road but tolerable. TIA

Did you have the TPS reset on your bike after having it powered up? A buddy of mine had stalling issues at low speed on his 2012 310, took the bike in, had the TPS reset by dealer and now everything is golden. Worth a shot.

No I didn't have it reset and I highly doubt the dealer did that after installing the jumper. When I ask them about an ECU reflash, ibeat and other reprogramming they look at me like I am speaking another language. Halls is only a 2 hour drive from me here in Illinois so that is where I will be going for any service. The dealer I bought my bike from gave me an incredible deal but they are clearly not prepared to service Husqvarna's IMHO.

Edit: Just for kicks I called the dealer that prepped my bike and they told me they don't even have the ECU/ibeat system in their shop. That answers your question right there.

Do you have 12 Point Injector and ECU ? The 011 and 012s need it to perform to their best, its a "must do" IMHO.

Money well spent. (You will need to reset TPS with new ECU).

No it still has the stock injector and ECU. I am hoping to get it running as good as possible before turning it into a full on race bike.

My opinion would be to fit the 12 point Injector and ECU as soon as possible.

Its not about turning it into a "race bike" , its about it running 100% through the range with no stalling etc... !

From what I understand, this is a symptom of the stock 4 port injector and ecu

I agree with DG.

fyi, Husky Australia eventually included the 12 port injector and ecu upgrade with new bikes to fix your exact issue.

OK you broke me down already:busted: I am setting up an appointment at Halls this week to drop my bike off and have the injector/ECU swapped out.
Funny, I went through a similar situation with my last bike (DR650) with trying to get the stock CV carb jetted and modded to work right but eventually installed a TM40 pumper carb and wholly crap what a difference it made:thumbsup: Seems I am at that crossroads yet again. Thanks for the encouragement:)

As an owner of he same bike, I am eager to hear how this works out. Please post.

Thanks

Is your fan running in the slow stuff, as in, continuously?

I don't ever recall hearing my fan turn on. Is it audible? My Super Tenere fan is loud and I can hear it easily.

Edit: I rode it after work chasing my kid around the yard, he was riding a crf100, and it actually ran perfect I even tried idling around in 1st trying to stall but it stayed running. After about 20 minutes of first gear I parked the bike and let it idle until the fan turned on, Once it did I went back out and it continued to run good. I am a bit perplexed as to why it started running good now. It is cooler today if that makes much difference (68f) Either way I am dropping it off tomorrow to have the tps/co settings and we will go from there. clock shows 90 miles and 4.5 hours.

Update: I just got a call from my local Husky dealer and they are offering to pay for the TPS and CO setting from another cross town Husky dealer. I will be taking it in and having the power-up finished like it should have been before delivery. If this doesn't remedy the issue then I will go the TXC injector ECU route. Hoping to get it running decent ASAP because I have plans to be riding in Northern Wisconsin 2 of the next 3 weeks.

New bike, tight tolerances, hot running, something may have been stuck in your fan, a stick or something, causing it not to run previously, hope the dealership doesn't hose the bike up, trying to "fix it".....

How about it. Nothing like taking a somewhat running bike and making it worse. I am hopeful that resetting the TPS and changing the CO settings shouldn't hurt as of now. Time will tell.

Out of the box, these bikes are essentially un-rideable for trail riding, geared too high and leaned out too much. Flame outs and stalling is the order of the day.
Hopefully with the recommended changes, this bike will get better.
I just love buying a brand new product and having to throw money at it to get it to work as advertised.
I guess that's part of the "Husky Charm"

Dropped the bike off at the dealer yesterday. They claim it will be finished sometime tomorrow. I will update with the results once that happens. Happy Independence Day USA!:applause:

What dealer? I noticed you are in Illinois. I bought mine at Countryside and they had no idea what I was talking about when I asked about the power up kit. I would love to get the mods done. I just got back from trail riding in Michigan - stalls out every-time I am on the single track trails.

HA! They just called me stating that Husky told them the only way to remedy the problem is to install the injector and ECU at my cost. WTF? So they didn't fix it at all. I am picking it up later tonight and calling Hall's in the morning to order the TXC ECU injector deal. Not much else to do if I plan to keep it. My buddy bought a 2013 KTM 350exc for 10k so I guess I have some head room in the $ area. I find it mind numbing that the stock 4 port and ecu can't be tweaked enough to make the bike able to ride single track.

I've not heard of anyone getting the TXC ECU and injector installed under a warranty claim. Mine was $380 from BMP. Installation was not too difficult.
