    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hi all. i haven't been here for a while as life seems to be getting in the way of riding at the moment.

Anyway, i have a 2012 te310 that i took out last weekend only to have it die 20mins into a ride. Starter wouldn't work and couldn't even kick it going. this after a top end rebuild and starter/worm gear replacement 10 hours ago. i bought i back and pulled the plug to see no spark so i though electrical. having no time to spend and wanting to ride i dropped it into the local dealer who have now rung and told me after testing they think either ecu or loom problems or both. they said its not unusual with the black head 310s. problem now is spares for these bikes are no longer made so they are rare and very expensive. i have basically been told the bike is write off.

im just wondering if anyone has dealt with a similar issue before? i might have a tinker and see if i can find anything but in dont really know where to start.

Get a new dealer. It should be pretty easy to differentiate between a harness and a ECU problem.

Obvious questions: hows the battery? Fuses? Power relay?

I bet it's something simple... and possibly cheap. Parts are available.

thanks for the reply. i would like a second opinion but the next closest dealer is miles away. im not too bad with bike mechanics but electrical stuff has me stumped. i havent picked up the bike yet to ask exactly whats wrong but over the phone i was told there is power getting to the ecu but then there is a problem after which is why no spark. apparently they no longer make spares for these Italian huskies and a replacement ecu would be close to a grand here anyway.

battery and fuses are fine and i believe he tested all the relays too.

could anyone recommend where to start if i try to find the fault at home. in very simple layman terms!

You might want to ring Huskymoto.co.uk and see what they have to say.
Here is a link to your ECU...it says 3 days shipping. It doesn't say "discontinued" so there's a chance they have it. Reasonably priced too.

I bought a stator and flywheel combo for my 2005 tc250 from them...a couple hundred dollars cheaper than anyone in the states...$203 with VAT and shipping was about $270 total.
 
I would skip the dealers and find a good mechanic. KTM has to make parts for 10 years and OEM parts are available here. Some of the other Aussies have mentioned a shop or 2 down under that know the Italians.
No way a 2012 should be a write off. They're going to sell you a new bike next :cheers:
