  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 Te 511 No Ignition Switch??

TC250209

Husqvarna
AA Class
I am a Canadian Dealer for Husqvarna. .
Set up our first 2012 te511.. one issue is no ignition switch?? why the heck would they do that.. it has already cost a sale because ANYONE can come start the bike?
anyone have and insight on this issue.. I have been trying to get an answer for about a month now and nothing.

It has a handle bar lock.... Maybe there thinking is if someone wants it bad enouph they can just pick it up.... I don't like the idea of having to carry a chain and lock around with me or someone starting it and walking away or redlining it to cause damage when I'm not around... It's a strange feeling to just hop on and go around town for sure but I don't think the TE is designed for that .

Are you saying the 2012 TE511 doesn't come with a keyed ignition ? I can't imagine why they would omit something like that on
a street legal bike.

Carry full coverage insurance. If they want it bad enough, get another one.
+1.... I carry tittle on mine and the comp/collission gives me the peace mine knowing I will be taken care of if I were ever to loose my bike down a cliff riding some of the trails I do ! Insurance is good way to go on or off street.

its is a dumb thing to do.. yep. oh look a 2012 husky .. hey buddy watch this! cold engine redline..
bad Husqvarna on this idea..
