  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TE 310

Interesting, they seemed to have changed what's available on their page. I haven't checked in 3-4 months, but last I did, the only compatible tank they offered was for the 2010 TE250. That year 250 was the first XLite. It supposedly fits the 310, but has the older fuel pump.

JustGasTanks currently lists a tank for 11-13 models which is a recent addition.

The IMS web page, however, does not list this new tank, just the old one like I mentioned. :excuseme:
Most odd, but it could be that IMS is really slow to update their web page. You'd think they'd want to toot their horn about each new offering, though...

I hope the tank is a direct fit for you. Please let us know.

That new tank is definitely the new design with the split componentry, the pump in one spot and the pressure regulator and low fuel sensor in the different location. The likelyhood of leakage between the mounting bolts of either flange is reduced due to the shorter length of plastic between the holes, that was the problem I had with the old design, the plastic would arch up between the bolts, there was not enough thick plastic cast around the flange bolts. Incidentally, the 30mm fuel pump is the same fuel pump for the older big block EFIs and the newer Xlite EFIs.

I've bought so many tanks from them I have them bookmarked, and they're the only place I look anymore for aftermarket tanks.
I did check a couple of other places looking for the 310 tank though....and you're right, IMS doesn't have their site updated.

I was hoping the ($$) Aqualine was being made for the current 310, their tank for the 630 was excellent.

Took the bike down to southern New Mexico and got a few days of good hard desert and woods riding in. What a nice change after a string of bigger heavier bikes... Not a single problem, but a few things were made clear.

The stock gearing seems low at first, especially compared to the wide ratio TE 610 and 630...
First is too tall for technical work, so a 45t rear is definitely replacing the stock sprocket.
It will be even busier on open sections at 55mph, but I didn't intend for this to be a pavement cruiser - just a trail connector.
Longer chain too - the completely stock setup came from my dealer a little tight. Adjusted correctly, the wheel was forward enough to grind right thru the mud flap in no time.

The seat had a couple of 100-140 mile days put on it, and it was starting to suck pretty bad. Not quite KTM bad....but bad.
Seat Concepts going on this bike too.

The Kayaba seemed pretty good until I rode a buddy's resprung/revalved Ohlins on his Sherco...so I'll be having his suspension guy do mine. It was beyond amazing and made the stock setup feel badly lacking.
I knew it needed respringing out back - the tire ate the plate bracket and my temp tag went missing out in the desert somewhere

I'm one of those "Crazy" people who say to regrease the steerer, and suspension bearing/bushings. I bought my 250 used and the suspensin bearings were toast (although the P.O. only used the bike 3 times). The Steerer was really lightly greased. Of particular note is the lower shock mount as it's the first to get soaked or dragged thorugh the mud. I went as far as to wrap it with an old tube which has kept most of the dust and gunk out of it so far (I recheck/clean it every few rides).

I'll have the shock and forks off, so it won't be any easier to get to the linkage and steering head bearings than it will while that stuff is being worked on.

We did a few runs down the Monticello Box....I was hoping that nice, clear spring-fed stream would be cleansing ;)

Hello All I have 2012 Husky Te310. Finally IMS is carrying a aftermarket tank for my bike. How does it fit? does it work great? I really want to change my tank. I live in such a rural area that I am afraid of running out of gas when I go out riding.

Any after comments would be great!

Also I looked on IMS website and they only show the TE250 tank not the TE310 Tank. Are the tanks both the same for the TE250 and the TE310?

-Thanks

The TE310 tank is listed at the bottom of the selections (112421) and is only called out as the TE/TXC for '11-'13, no mention of engine size.
I had the bike apart getting the suspension done, and between that and an incredibly busy work schedule I don't have the bike back together completely yet.
I slosh-tested the tank though while it was off the bike - not a hint of leak, no odor or moist area near the gasket. The gaskets are "double row" if that makes sense.
Two raised ribs (a mm or so apart) do a great job of sealing without having to reef down on the screws.

The brass threaded inserts were accurately placed and it all went together really well. I've had a couple of fitment issues on a couple of other IMS tanks, so I was a bit nervous - but they did a good job re: the sealing of the pump and bypass fittings. Petcocks too - all well done.

The tank is on the bike and hooked up - but the side lobes are a bit further apart requiring a slightly longer connector hose between the petcocks.

You only pick up about .6 gallons (2.3 to 2.9), but with the excellent mileage I've been getting, that equates to a fair bit of miles that I won't have to walk in Baja :)

I just installed my new tank. I am having a issue with the fuel level sending unit. I am not sure exaclty what is wrong. the low fuel light is on even if I have a full tank of gas. Have you came across this specific issue with the sending unit not working on the new 2012 Tanks?

Thanks

I am supose to do something with the knife to fix my low fuel sending unit problem haha or am I supose to KILL MY TANK!! because they suck?

Blake, can we get a pic of the tank on the bike? Does it eliminate the shrouds?

I'm looking to pick one up this month. IMS part# 112421-N2 (screw cap, natural).

What kind of excellent mileage do you get?

Would be great to see it ready to go. I'm interrested in how the left underside is spaced for petcock, etc... As stock my tank is 3mm from impacting the water pump and radiator hose (petcock and screw from sending unit). The relocated petcock looks promising, mounted in front, and curious if it uses the stock side plastics etc... Not much bigger than stock but should gain 23 miles according to my mpg.
