  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TE 310****************************************

After sitting around for 3 weeks looking at my un-ridden new bike, i thought to hell with this, i'm going riding broken foot or no broken foot!!!
I loaded up my bike and headed out to my favourite ride area

This bike is AWESOME**************************************** it's pulls so much harder all the way through the rev range than my old bike, the head porting, exhaust system and the electronic jet kit have really woken this bike up it just revs so freely

At first i didn't like the suspension setup feeling that it was to stiff but put that down to the suspension needing to bed in, but as i got more comfortable with the bike and started to push it, i realised the suspension started to work and i was loving it by the end of the ride.

The suspension on this bike doesn't like going slow, the harder you push the better the suspension is, especially in real snotty stuff.

At the moment everything on the bike is really tight and as it loosens up over the next few rides the bike will get better and better!
Can't wait to ride it again.
I did 65km and washed the bike when i got home, now im off to do an air filter and oil change.

could you tell me a little bit about what exactly do they do to the head when they ported? I have a 2012 with the LeoVince exhaust and ECU injector upgrade, but still missing a bit of power in midrange.

Anyone here in the USA care to list the extras in the box with the bike?

The 40 tooth rear is longggggggg. I thought it might come with a 50 and a new chain like some other models did. This will be fine for break-in though.

the 2012 models dont come with the extra chain/sprocket/air filter cage and power up kit:confused:.dan
Have you gotten an intelligent reply as to why not from corporate?

It's setup like a supermoto trail bike....I wonder if it might do 100 mph after it's broken in. 45 mph at 5000-5100 rpm.

no it wont do 100 even when broken in...unless george has a few tricks up his sleeve.corporate said big brother was watching so they felt it was prudent to be good.tell george,I think they are broken in by 300 miles:D.dan

Yes, I have hit 85 with the 40, just doesn't seem right with knobbies. I had to go with the 50 tooth cause my clutch hand was dying in the tight stuff.

I'm told the first '12s shipped with the extra sprocket and chain + power up kit. At least that's what I'm getting here pretty soon...;)

you have a different Big Brother...furthermore in the US the bike is $8199USD!
Very good point! We get ripped off so much with what we have to pay for things here in OZ, but Aussie consumers are getting there own back by buying more and more parts and accessories online from Europe and the U.S that prices for things here are starting to fall, so businesses here can compete with the over seas markets.

Nath do you prefer riding the 310 or 449 for trail riding?

Depends what sort of ride it is, for easy open flowing rides i'll take the 449 but when the going gets tough and technical it's the 310 all the way, if i could only have one bike it would be the 310, i always seem to have a lot more fun on the 310 because it's nice and light and easy to handle

I visited my friend Bruce, in Melbourne in 1980. I was shocked to see the price of a ordinary paperback book was $7.

His dad was a big wheel in the RR union and pulled a few strings getting Bruce back into Aus. After he over-stayed his VISA and worked illegally....also got his watch-making stuff through customs with little cost. Of course a main expense on these Aussie bikes are the extended warranties, relative to the US

I think that's one of the reasons for the price discrepancy between Canada and the US, too. Personally, I'd rather save the $1300 difference for a 310 and give up the 2yr vs. 6mth warranty. Theoretically, isn't the warranty void after powerup anyway?

We only get 1 year warranty over here, so that blows that theory out of the water, more like our excessive taxes and import duties.

Actually, Canada is also going to a 1 year warranty on TE models for 2012. And we're also getting a 'fairly large' price increase. Go figure...
