  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 Te 250 - Tail Light No Longer Available

Hostage

Husqvarna
AA Class
I have a 2012 TE 250 and 2013 TE 310. Flipped 310 on hill climb and busted a few things. Discovered you can no longer buy a replacement tail light (part 85384). #26 on USA Main Wiring Harness, Electrical Parts. Same part for 250 & 310. Lot's of places show they have them, like Bike Bandit, until you try to check out. I'm sure I'm not the first to discover this, searched threads. What have others done for after market alternatives on tail light. I'm considering Acerbis Universal. Getting a little scared about owning these reds with future of unsupported parts.

When I plugged in my 2012 TE 250 or 2013 TE 310 it said it would not fit. :( Ordered anyway because I'm desperate for solution. If no fit I'll install the Acerbis I guess.

Hey 268fords, thank you so much for this help. Love the fender and those rear flush mount turn signals, so happy you shared this info. Now realize I will need LED for front turn signals. Do you recall what you changed to?

Did it fit?

It fits! I have a 2013 te 310 and 2012 te 250. Got one for each but had to use different sources - last one at each. Also got the low profile turn signals and new flasher for led turn signals. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to this question. I'm so happy for this info and these products!

Question on the fender. Is the taillight choice simply always on or always off except when braking? I was hoping always on plus brighter for brake to be more street legal. Not sure if I just wired wrong or not. Also, for anyone considering buying, no light for license plate so probably not fully legal. Also, available again at Dennis Kirk as of 9/9/2019

You need to look at the receptical and wiring. If there are three wires and the light bulb has two contacts (and two filaments in the globe), then you will have both tail light and brake light. If the wiring only has two wires and the light bulb has one contact (and one filament in the globe) then it will just be a tail light.

Good to know if this will work. I am not running signals or a plate light on my TE so interrested on what you find.

Great, I figured it out, brake light works. If anyone is ordering this get those low profile turn signal lights at the same time and get that LED flasher. Swap out the front turn signals with small LED (required due to new flasher). All this was easy for a non-mechanic. As far as wiring, clip out old harness and study to install new wires. My only regret, I didn't do this long ago. Thanks to all for advice on this.

Thanks for the help on this. Finally posted pics. What a huge difference, I replaced those brake and tail lights and lost license multiple times. Hopefully this will cut down on that.

Do you want to sell the stock tail light?

I think I have two stock tail lights, one with the entire rear tail light subframe/license plate mount/rear signals.

You can buy them from an SWM dealer. Same part number as the husky (SWM bought the old Italian husky factory and redhead bikes).
