  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TE 250 / 310 fuel injection issues

Hey Swamp, My 2011 TE310 is a little finicky at very low speeds when woods riding, got much better after the engine reached about 20 hours use and fully powered-up. (my old 2003 KLX400R with a keihin FCR39 carb could be made to flame out doing exactly what you are doing in your vid ,with a very quick flick of the wrist from idle) would never flame out if ridden the same way. I don't think efi or a carbed bike will tolerate that with no load on engine??? Don"t give up.. and I suggest breaking in the engine more before attempting tuning. really slow woods type rideing may require more gear reduction then the 13-50.
2011 TE310 at 24hours.
Lorenzo.

here is a little example of what the bike is doing.
it does the same thing in the woods.
like when there is a large fallen tree and you need to blip the throttle to get over it or any other low speed obstacle that requires quick throttle response.

i know you are going to try to make me out to be a noob or novice rider (which im not). its not me. its the bike.
for the record this is the only time ive ever complained about any motorcycle that ive ever owned.
simply because the bike has become such a disappointment.

and yes if you buy one of these you will have to drop money into it to get it to run decently (which im doing).

i was told the bike had 12 port fuel injection (then i find out it doesnt.. now i have to pay for it.)

I was going to stay out of this... Try this just to see if it makes a improvement. There is a Spring loaded phillip screw on the right side of your EFI. Count the turns in and return it so you can put it back in case this does not work. Try turning that in 1/4 turn and testing it again. If that does not you can try out 1/4 turn out. I have seen this fix one other bike.

I don't know why they all seem to be different. I will agree that these motors are super tight when new and run better after some hours on them. It sucks as all of your buddies want to ride the new bike. That does not the stumble that the 2010's had from what I see. If you hold the throttle open at low revs with the bad ECU the 10's had, they would not idle smooth just off idle. Turning your idle up is only masking the problem by the way but most run best a little bit high. Don't give up, the bike is truly awesome in the tight woods when you get it set up.

Progress over the weekend!

Now happy bike owner!

Posted observations in 12 Hole Injector thread to keep all 12 hole info together

I made progress too. The stalling problem I had is gone. Bonus, the exhaust doesn't smell of raw gas any more either.

Things done, in order:

13-57 gearing. This hid the stalling problem a little, but mostly just helped overall torque.

12 port injector. I bought the Kawi version. This may have helped a little on its own, if so it's a small improvement.

Power Commander 5 with AT. Huge difference. It's pulling away 25 to 30% of the fuel over a lot of the map, so not a subtle change. When I tuned the idle mixture, the idle speed went up to around 2500 rpm, so I turned it back down with the bypass screw. I didn't touch the throttle rest or TPS at all, and the SW said the TPS was in the right place.

Anyway, the motor runs how I think it ought to now, and I can get on with enjoying the uphills as much as the rest of the trails.

You know what gets me in this thread... in the 3 pages of conversations, the TC never confirmed they did the power up kit. And considering he's relatively new to off road riding, then it's very possible he's riding it without the power up.

That would answer a lot of your issues. And a dealership generally won't do that unless you specifically ask for it (especially if you get it plated)...

:banghead:

The "OP's" '12 TE250 has been fully powered up/de-restricted and was tuned to how it ran best with 2 miles on the odo before it ever left the shop. I'm sure adjusting the throttle stop, manipulating the cable pull adjustment and resetting the TPS values will address 90% of it and then playing with the CO values to help optimize power delivery will seal the deal.

I just got my "RIDE MORE" Journal from Husky NA . Seems the Te 250 did well in 2010-11 (CH factory team), Back to back "World Champs" Well Done CH Racing (MEO & Salminen)... Thank's for turning us little guys on to your factory tuning. My 250 runs great now,Full Leo (Meo edition), 3rd ECU and 12 port nozzle...
