  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 Husqvarna TE310 ECU Upgrade...

I wouldn't think 0.02mm would make any difference. Compare the groove depth and if they are machined deeper on the aluminium elbow then just use fatter O rings.
For what it's worth - and since this has gone a bit off topic - I have a 2014 TE310R, read the horror stories about the plastic elbow and ordered the Zip-Ty aluminum replacement.

However, when I finally got around to removing my tank to make the swap I was pleasantly surprised to find mine already had an aluminum elbow that fit perfectly. Since I bought the bike new (0 miles) I'm sure this was OEM.

For those with a 2014 and have yet to remove your tank I suspect the dreaded plastic elbow is likely a non-issue for you too. I'd at least check before doing what I did - ordered an "upgrade" that I did not need.

I'd say your right. The 2013 bikes got recalled in Australia to have the alum elbow fitted and tank raised under warranty so I'm sure the 2014's would have been done at the factory.

Update on the upgrade...

I think the restricted feeling it had (and sounded) was due to the db killer. With the shortie SA in, it sounds fine. Almost normal. It's a bit quieter than stock I think and that characteristic bark is noticeably reduced. :(

I reset the TPS, although it was off by less than 50mv. I'm not running the JD Tuner, which I was before. I don't think that gave me more power, but it did make off idle response more useable. The ECU/Injector upgrade has made off idle response great and overall response is very smooth.

I did expect a power increase between the ECU/injector upgrade and the Meo replica racing exhaust and I don't think I got that, although some have suggested that since it's so smooth, it may not seem as powerful. I guess the best way to test that theory is to try some steeper hills and see if it lugs as much or handles them better.

Overall, I like the upgrade. The smooth response is very nice. It's like it should have been stock. I haven't intentionally tried to get a flame out by blipping the throttle several times off idle, but I can tell it would be less susceptible to that now. Hopefully I'll get better mileage, too. I wish there were a 4.5 or 5 gallon tank available for this bike. It'd be nice for some trips. For what I use it for now, I don't need it, but I'd use it for longer rides if it had the fuel range.

I kept my 2012 Te310 with a stock tank. Just wanted one of my bikes to have a little sportier look and feel. Beta 350 RS has the big tank and about 120 mile range.
