• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

First race but this race says alot ...

0) RV1 is the class of the field
1) Short rides a 450 instead of a 350 and finishes ~about the same in his usual > 5th < 10th spot ...
2) Same for the #800 guy as with Short
3) RD5 switches from yellow to an orange bike and looks, races, and finishes ~about the same
4) js7 best days are behind him
5) Ivan Tedesco (Hot Sauce) wants to win but is still lacking slightly
6) TC41 needs to get back on the bike.

He looked like his old self ... I think he might have enough juice to beat js7 again this year in points ..
Good chance he will beat Stewart in points, but for what place?
Reed sometimes reminds me of a man among boys, maybe not as fast as some, but if I was in the race I think I would fear him most week in week out.

Not sure but unless RV1 has mechanical issues or crashes, it will not be for #1 ... Canard is still an unknown at this point ... If he misses this week, he is a very long shot for the title ...This is his 5th week since the break ... so he as a chance to be back ...

RD5 is right there also ... I'm thing he'll be second this year if no issues ... cr22 and js7 duke it out for 3rd ... TC41 fits in somewhere but he needs to race to expose is hand ...

cr22 has also faded in the latter halves of the last few seasons ... Maybe js7 will ride himself back into shape(?) but his crashes are gonna break him if he does not get it under control...

It should be interesting all over again with these 5 riders ...

I have not been paying attention to SX the last couple of years, but it seems there is less direct factory backed teams. A lot of semi-privateer teams with lots of money and backing. Anyone know if everyone rides highly messaged, high horsepower bikes in the 450 class? What was the lap time difference between the 450s and 250s? Was it about 2-3 seconds? That is pretty small consider the 450 riders should be more experienced and talented.

I hope TC41 gets back soon. It is a shame he will have to start over after having a great rookie year.

The only thing that would make SX better is seeing a few guys on 2 strokes.

Maybe hondo and pumpkins are factory type team of the past ... yamma-hammer satellite ( factory helped but not factory owned ) teams, not sure about the 2 other japan camps ... Husqvarna left out in the cold ..

Not sure how a new fi pumpkin can be raced right out of the box .. Is it even available for sale yet in the states? Maybe something in the rules that address a new model bike to be raced ?

Someone please correct me as needed here but from my understanding, these machines are supposedly stock machines in almost all ways but have HP parts added in specific places as per rule book ...Engines can be bored, but not stroked... 2T machines are allowed ...

450
WINNERS AVERAGE LAP TIME: 1:03.978

250
WINNERS AVERAGE LAP TIME: 1:04.640

Ever watch MXdN? 250s and 450s race together ... Put the correct guy on a 250 and he'll whip a 450 ... RV2, riding a 250, beat the entire 450 field there a few yrs back ... This reality check is very hard on the 450 ego ..

They imported 200 single cams 450 (they are already soldout) that's how They have been homologed,2000 more or so will be available next spring.

no guessing or tech opinions, here's the rule book. 2010 issue so its not the latest revision.

1.1 Homologation of Motorcycles

a. Only motorcycles homologated by AMA Racing may be used in
competition. AMA Racing will only accept applications for
homologation from motorcycle manufacturers or their
distributors.
b. Once a motorcycle has been homologated, it may be used until
such time that the homologated motorcycle no longer complies
with the technical rules or a maximum of five years.
c. Compliance with homologation requirements will not guarantee
an AMA homologation. The homologation may be withheld or
withdrawn for a just cause that the AMA and the FIM deems in
the best interest of the sport.

d. The homologation procedure and information are available
from AMA Racing.

So by them saying:

"The homologation may be withheld or withdrawn for a just cause that the AMA and the FIM deems in the best interest of the sport."

They can squash any advancement in engine or bike design that would give an unfair advantage to a manufacturer? It will be interesting what they do with 2t DI if it gives us what they are promising. Sorry for going a bit off topic. :excuseme:

Yep, the gods are at play here ...

Sounds like the good old boys club here .... Maybe a dog and pony show?

Starting in 2012, the AMA originally stated that the 400 units must be in the country by March 1. Why? Because this rule has been abused. Teams can only write off 8 units for the race team as part of the 400...not 100. But, since then they have decided that only 200 of the 400 have to be "in country" by March 1, 2012.

Probably had nothing to do with the new pumkin getting to the starting gate...

Gas Gas isn't legal by a long shot and exposes the fact that the AMA's 400 unit requirement isn't realistic in the current motorcycle climate. You'd be surprised how many motorcycles don't meet the 400 unit limit...and some have been raced...and a few have won titles.

No, I would not be surprised .. they can't even keep the 4 chosen bikes and their owners honest and in the gate ... lol

Is the Husqvarna TC250 legal? Yes, but just last year's model, not this years.
Not sure but this article makes it sound like the 012 Husky 250 can't be raced ... The bikes are homologed at the company level ... If true, chalk this up as another started, but dead avenue for racing ...
