  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 250te or 2012 310te for short guy

I took a test ride on a 2012 250te today and really loved the seat hieght. The bike had not been powered up so I couldn't really get a feel for the power. I would definitely prefer the extra torque of the 310 but it doesn't come in a low seat height version. Does anyone know exactly what the factory did to lower the bike. I am interested in the specifics if anyone knows, ie, what spring size and valving used in the shock and forks. If felt like they really got it right for my riding style with the 250 and I was wondering if it could be dupicated on a new 310. Thanks,
Harvey

They put spacers in the fork and shock....you can use a kouba link too.

You can buy and then lower a 310 but it will cost you about $500 front and rear for the lowering and a revalve.

If you are going to take it apart you might as well revalve it.

I'd ride it stock height for a year till it needs it's 1st service but that's me.

I think the TE310 is a bit tall myself.

Wonder if a dealer would be interested in swapping out the stuff from the 250 low to the 310, then selling a normal height TE250, im sure theres a tall person out there who would like a 250.

Catang5oh: Any dealer that would do that could have a sale today. I would even be glad to pay for the labor swap. Know anyone that wants to do it?

what dealer did you get a test ride from ?? I would go to a dealer who would be willing to help out w your set up in mind. i haven't heard about the factory having a shortened suspension travel on the te. thought it was a shortened subfame and a modified seat.. but i could be wrong. You might try Ron bishop in escondido, a long time dealer of husky's. love to send you to uptite but his deal w husky is over.

That's what I was getting at attyharv, I think a good dealer wouldn't bat an eye at helping you out, it would be a win, win for them. You pay for the 310 and modification, they end up with a TE250 that can be sold as a standard, not low version. I would definitely start asking some dealers, hell, they are making money both ways.

What happened with George (Uptite) and Husky?
Escondido is long way from Santa Monica. I will try Tri County where I had test ride. Need to speak to the manager, Paul a very nice guy.

I was told the shortening was in the suspension. Is it the sub frame? Then would be a different bike from 310te.

Give me a shout at Paul@Tri-CountyPowersports.com I'll hook you up on that lowered TE310 with suspension swap deal.
