  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TXC450 VS. 2011 TXC511

Well I just found out my local dealer has a 2011 TXC450 and TXC511, both brand new and at very reasonable prices. I've always had 450 four strokes so I'm leaning more towards the 450. Any mechanical issues or mods I need to be aware of ... clutch, transmission, valves, electric start, etc.?
My last TXC 450 was rock solid and a great bike and I'm really looking forward to a dirt bike with EFI ... no jets!

Just rode my '11 TXC449 this weekend on a challenging 95 mile dualsport and my vote would be for that especially with Husky currently discounting it to a MSRP of 6499...I have the JD tuner($200.00 cost) and the bike is a great all arounder....I use it for MX practice as well as trails etc and it does everything well...I'm a 52y/o vet rider whose best days are behind me and at my level other then dialing in the suspension for weight/skill the bike needs nothing...Good luck with whatever you end up with...

I was just over at the dealership and it looks like the TXC450 for me! How did your bike run stock? I don't have a JDtuner and unless the bike is really choked up I plan on leaving it stock.

Mine was unplugged when I got it and it has the akro muffler which yours should as well. The JD tuner just helped get the FI better but your dealer can program it to richen up the settings from stock and make it run a little better. Like I said it's a great all arounder for the weekend warrior. Stock for me the front end was too stiff as well as the rear but I'm only 165lbs so depending on your weight the stock springs may be fine. Congrats and good luck.

The suspension shouldn't be an issue as I weigh about 210lbs. I'll have to check with the dealer and see if it comes with the Akrapovic, on the showroom it has the stock pipe.
Thanks again for the info.

All 2011 TXC449s were delivered with the stock exhaust and also supplied with them is the Akro. Your dealer just didn't install it in place of the stock exhaust. If he tells you otherwise he's telling you a tale.

FYI on the Husqvarna north america web site they are now advertising the '11 TXC449 for $5299.00!
That's a smoking deal and you may want to check with your dealer before you pull the trigger.

The US does not get the Akro pipe. From what I've read, drop the $200 for the JD 6X tuner. It'll transform the bike. And removing it is as simple as unplugging it and replugging the stock connector.

I'm in the US and yes it does. The TE version doesn't get the Akro in the US. The TXC does!

Yes I think you're right about the Akro, as I recall the dealer mentioned something about the bike coming with the pipe. I know that there is a o2 sensor plug and efi remap plug available for the TE450 that re-maps the bike to " race mode ", is that also available for the TXC? Here in California in order to comply with green sticker regulations all of the off-road bikes come jetted/mapped extremely lean!

I can't say exactly for sure as mine was done when I got it but I believe it's very similar to the TE450 arrangement that you mention. Either way the dealer should be able to install the muffler and do the necessary tweaks before you pick up the bike.

I have a 09 TXC 510- I have owned many many bikes,(my first Husky) this bike suprises me everytime I take it out. Its quick, smooth, and handles alot better than you would think for a big bike.
east coast tight woods
I have friends that own new 2012 orange and blue bikes and after riding mine, they all come back in shock, saying it was way better than expected.
proper suspension set up is key.
