  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE511 - Servicing, Performance Parts, Motard Setup

JusstChriss

Husqvarna
Hey guys just got myself a husky 511 and just wondering it anyone can help me out with some tips nd heads up on the engine wear and servicing.
Got good power altho i feel it needs some more pump, Interested in hotting it up maybe a cam, change ignition module, came with free aftermarket pipe but still feel needs a performance header pipe either pro circuit, fmf or yoshimura.
Wondering what you guys have done performance wise with your 511 would be greatly apreceated*
I am going to put motard wheels on it no matter what it costs, wondering what brand/ setup to go for.

Thanks Chris.

I'll move this from Get Togethers - Reports --->>> 4stroke, so you will get a better response. :)

Can't help you with the rest but I do have some opinions with the wheels based on research. Marchesni and Alpina wheels are each tubeless and let's be honest, they just look the best.
Warp 9 seems to be a cheap route. Ata about a grand they come with an oversized rotor. They are also customizable by color of hub and rim.
Excel is another cheaper option if you buy the rim and spoke kit. You would have to lace them to your existing hubs though. May be a no go if you enjoy having a set of dirt wheels.
Racers use a 16.5 inch front instead of a 17 because it helps turn-in but as far as I know the only choices are slicks with that size. Killing any dreams of a street Motard.
With the 450's and above a 5inch wide rear rim is ideal because of tire choices. I say 450 or above because they have the power to handle it and can also really use the traction it may provide.
I hope this at least helps you out until an expert here answers. Their aren't many active motard guys here but the ones that are will have the knowledge on these to match countless others elsewhere.

Subscribed.
I don't have any info to offer on the new 449/511 models. There aren't any even to be seen (showroom or otherwise here).
I dont even know if there is any high performance engine parts for the new engines. I've read that the TC models make more power than the TEs.
As for wheels and chassis; 17s are fine (much better tire choices and prices). Locate a 4 piston caliper and appropriate master. The SM models had less suspension travel than their dirt counterparts.
Enjoy the build :)

Aftermarket TC449 exhaust (bomb header & silencer) + JD Tuner is approximately 24HP increase on the TE511. Air box mods and port & polish will add more gains in mid to high rpm range.

Edit: 20.4 HP

Mine gained 11hp, I must have left some on the table :>) Bike is running great and racking up the miles... makes good power for me.

Holy crap, I need to revisit that Husky 4 stroke pics thread. Some amazingly tricked out bikes in that thread.
To the O.P. The only mods I've done for power on my 11" 511 are FMF Powercore 4 Slip-on muffler and JD Tuner.
Those two things are the most significant upgrades that you can do, imo, to get the most out of the motor. The brand of exhaust is up to you, just get rid of that monstrosity thing that it comes with. BTW, just rec'd my Uni air filter thanks to the link posted in the "Air filter" thread by Motosportz. Thanks again to the poster of that link. Awesome two stage filter.
Much better than stock one.
