  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE449 Thinking of De-Catting

frontiercat

Husqvarna
AA Class
I saw somewhere that after de-catting, someone had flameout issues. I would like to de-cat my bike, but don't want to end up having flameout issues afterwards.

I do have the TT power-up switch on it, and it has worked fine.

My bike is completely stock as it concerns to powertrain (other than the TT power-up switch).

What say the masses?

I didn't even realize people actually ran these bikes with the catalyic converter in... :excuseme:

I believe JD Tuner would help with the flameouts by tuning the air/fuel mixture. But alas, that's more money, good to have regardless though. Works flawless on my powered up TE 250.

I did the JD before decatting. I can attest to the goodness of the JD box and its ability to banish (for the most part) flameouts. I doubt that decatting alone will make it much worse...after all the TXC is already decatted and is essentially the same.

I had serious flame out issues after decatting. I remember riding 2 miles and flaming out eight times, the last one so bad that it would not restart until I switched it back to race mode I. I switched the exhaust to a TC449 megabomb header, midpipe and 4.1rct silencer. No flame out issues since. Race mode II, works perfectly. Megabomb adds back pressure @ low rpms, more than likely why it solved the flame outs.

Might of just been me, but everyone I know who decatted has used JD right away. :excuseme:

Tinken, it was your post that I read about the flame outs after decatting. I usually keep my bike in RaceII and it runs fine, as is. I've looked at your Megabomb posts and it looks like a very nice set-up. Just not wanting to spend big coin on this bike.

Thanks to all of the replies!

I forgot about the 'non-jumper' mode.....don't do that :-)
