  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 Te310 To be or Not to be?

Husqvarna
A Class
Hello all,
Looking to buy 2011 te310 to replace my 2008 te250 w/310kit. I have found a deal where i can get into this new bike for only a $2200 difference after i sell my 2008. I would like something lighter an with a little more punch. I am only 135 lbs with muddy boots on. I have put too much money into this 08 to make it something its not. I ride with buddies that have race jap 250f's w/bbk's .I would like full legal bike, electric leg, light weight, plenty of power, and a husky.Yes i'm spoiled now thanks husky:) We ride anything from single track to the mx track hitting jumps in 4th flat out. I'm not trying to be cheap but i know the old 08 style motor was tried and true, refined year after year. Sometimes new an improved is great when u get it but all new means untested and unrevised. I have read about new 310 till my head spins but i have some questions.

#1 I read somewhere these motors are made in taiwan
do these new style 250 310 motors hold up well (breaking,leaking,etc..)?

#2 Maintaining and working on engine more difficult (so compact, cheap hardware, dumb engineering)?

#3 New (bike)frame setup just as easy to work on as old style?

#4 Power feeling that much more than old 250 310 motor?

#5 Throw around feeling that much better? Yes, less weight!

#6 Seat interchangable on both bikes? Yes, found out today!

#7 Did everyone get there efi straight without a big headache?

#8 Is there room to improve power later besides exhaust?

#9 Which tires to get bike with? michelins or scorps? for packed sand and dirt mx track

#10 Is fuel pump still in tank? If so what does petcock do? cut fuel from one side to another?

#11 Will new efi work with low battery?found this out the hard way on 08 when starter tries but turns slow then clicks solenoid ,fuel injection wont let me kick an start

#12 Is headlight really a headlight unlike my 08?(was like holding a lighter in front of bike)

#13 Did cool new rear white led plate bracket come with ur bikes? Yes,well i hope

#14 Does it have over rev?like the jap's

#15 Would you make this switch?

Sorry for novel but i usually keep my bikes for 8+ years an need you to help me make a choice?

#1) Dealer (Tasky's) hasn't had to work on these x-lites much at all so far. Still haven't been out that long (late 09). Holds a lot less oil in the crank case (900ml) than the old engine.
#2) Related to #1, I did my 1st valve check and had to adjust 1 exhaust valve because it was tight. Cam has to be removed on the new engine instead of sliding the follower out of the way to change shims. Dealer suspects valve was probably on the tight side since new (65 hrs/700 trail miles ago). Oil changes are different; the plug is centered at the rear of the engine right above a crossmember and has a screen co-located with it. Hard to access with out dropping but you get used to it. Filter has a wave spring under it instead of the conventional spring between the cover and filter; new design is easier. Uses HF116 HiFlo filter, same as a lot of Honda's and easy to get. Air filter is the same PN as the older bikes (I use the Moose neoprene lipped version).
#7) Depends on whose review you read, unfortunately. JD Jetting has a nice, simple, plug in tuner that allows tweaking while riding. I'm using it with great success on my 250.
#15) I could see myself on the 2011 310. Love the motor and being DOT from the showroom floor is becoming a major advantage.

All other questions I don't know enough to answer accurately. I like the thing and I bet it sells very well!

I have a 2011 TE 310 . Which replaced a 2010 TE450 , and so far (20 hours) it is great ! I will try and answer what I can >

1. Engine made in Italy (I think ?) . New 449 / 511 engines made in tiawan .
2. As above . Oil change made tricky by "breather" pipe on Oil Drain .
3. Yes
4. Heaps of power ! I really think most people will be suprised by the 310 !
5. / 6. Yes
7. Reset C01 to 95 , Idle to 2000 rpm and then just ride it !
8. / 9. ?
10. Yes, but different pump to 010s . Pipe is just balance to use all fuel . While all in USA will love bigger Tank , Its a pain in the Arse to remove !
11. No
12. ?
13. Yes
14. ?
15. yes, yes, yes !

thanks for replies, found out today my ofg rad guards will fit with little mod for fan, soft seat foam (gutz)is same, uptite axle bolt and silencer heat guard will work,an my new s12's are same size. Just have to switch pro tapers (not enough pullback on stock bars)an trailtech headlight over. This is sounding better by the moment! What did your 11 310's come with? New updated white temp sensor? 40 an 50 tooth sprockets with two chains? new plastic hand guards? do all or power up items come with bike? o2 plug ,different air filter cage,o2 resistor, plugs or caps for emissions bypass? my 08 had a kit, is this similar just no slipon?

Mine came with all of the above , but water sensor is black (never been a problem) .
All was fitted by dealer prior to delivery and other parts in box .

should i have dealer set co's or check it first. i want to wait on the powerup kit to break her in an they want $$ to do it .I want to put 500 miles on it with emissions crap on. Its going to be a snail but its the only way i will have self control an let her break in the right way.I plan on puttin some kind of pipe on it with power up kit and tune at the same time .Then beat the snot out of it****************************************

Hi
im new to this forum....and indeed forums in general so apologies if i'm not using it correctly!
i took delivery of a 2011 310 on thurs this week.
It's a great bike, lots of power and quite capable of hauling my not exactly light 245 lb frame! I'm 6'2 and the bike fits me ok
Beautiful build quality, very impressive overall.
Bought from husky sport in the UK, very good overall experience.
Bike is standard apart from an uprated rear spring and a 12 tooth front sprocket.... oh and bar risers
I was a little disappointed with my first ride, almost entirely because the bike still had the 13 tooth front sprocket fitted (was supposed to have been changed by the dealer but wasn't). Living in jersey (C I not USA) the riding tends to be less flat out and more technical. With the 13 tooth fitted the bike just kept stalling when shutting the throttle and then attempting to get back on the power. i will caveat that comment by saying that this was in tech....almost trial type conditions as you might experience in a special test in an extreme enduro.
The good news is that the 12 tooth transformed the bike and although not entirely cured it is massively improved.
Don't really want to do anything more radical until the bike is run in.
Just off for a ride!

Well, went to local dealer today an test drove three different bikes. 2011 txc449 ,2010 txci250, and 2011 te310. Its going to be a hard call here, the txc449 felt so light to throw around and power was going to get me hurt cause i have no self control an i only weigh 135lbs. This bike felt half as light as my 08te250 up top cause the weight is so low in chasis. Next i road the corked up te310 with 13/40 gearing. Well it still pulled that 40 sprocket pretty good with no power up. efi felt like crap on this one ,real boggy and sputtery down low but it still pulled pretty good. Was a lot easier to throw around than my 08 te250, it feels like a 125 2t but with balls. Last i rode a 2010 txc250 with power up an no sa or db killer in exhaust. Man this bike was loud. It had 12/50 gearing an felt like a race jap 250f. It had that great low end bark and ripped. I was very undecided now i want all the bikes but my pockets aren't that deep. I am still going for 2011 te310 cause i don't want to get hasseled by the "man" with the txc's. The te449 is going to be heavier and too tame i think ,plus it looks like a mother to work on but i could be wrong. The 2010 txci250 rips but they don't make a big bore yet an i know i am going to want more bottom end after a season or two. My plan is to get the 2011 te310 an break it in ,then get a full race pipe ,race ecu, an tune to perfection. This way its the same weight as 250 but has more grunt down low cause i want to try an pull a 13/48 nicely,an its legal as can be! I think it would be the best for an mx/woods bike. Anyone know what version ibeat the 2011 te310 is?

#1 I read somewhere these motors are made in taiwan
do these new style 250 310 motors hold up well (breaking,leaking,etc..)? So far so good for our 2011 te310 with approx 500km

#2 Maintaining and working on engine more difficult (so compact, cheap hardware, dumb engineering)? So far so good, only done an oil change.

#3 New (bike)frame setup just as easy to work on as old style? Yep.

#4 Power feeling that much more than old 250 310 motor? No comparison, motor is fantastic and incredibly flexible for it's size.

#5 Throw around feeling that much better? Yes, less weight! Comparable to a jap 250f MX bike, feels very light and turns very well.

#6 Seat interchangable on both bikes? Yes, found out today!

#7 Did everyone get there efi straight without a big headache? Took a bit of fiddling but now feels very good.

#8 Is there room to improve power later besides exhaust? I don't think so, the motor is so strong down low for a small engine i don't think it's possible.

#9 Which tires to get bike with? michelins or scorps? for packed sand and dirt mx track

#10 Is fuel pump still in tank? If so what does petcock do? cut fuel from one side to another? Pump fuel is fine.

#11 Will new efi work with low battery?found this out the hard way on 08 when starter tries but turns slow then clicks solenoid ,fuel injection wont let me kick an start Not sure.

#12 Is headlight really a headlight unlike my 08?(was like holding a lighter in front of bike) No idea i don't ride at night.

#13 Did cool new rear white led plate bracket come with ur bikes? Yes,well i hope

#14 Does it have over rev?like the jap's Doesn't really encourage crazy revs, it does rev hard and can hold gears if you want. Once you get used to the available torque you won't be revving it like that anyway.

#15 Would you make this switch? Yes

Sorry for novel but i usually keep my bikes for 8+ years an need you to help me make a choice?

Nice!

I wish I had one of those crates

Nice garage by the way. I probably spend more time in the garage than in the house. Looks like you do too

last pic is 08 te250 w/310 kit an 11 te310
I can't believe all the stuff they changed,it is hard to find what parts they reused. All my friends said "why did you buy the same bike?" But almost everything is different. A quick measurement an it looks like this bike is almost 1 1/2 inches shorter from axle to axle vs 08. With both forks set at 3rd line and same spot on chain adjusters. It feels lighter everywhere, i can't wait to see how much better it turns!

oh here's some pics of the nash! first one is old combo ,went 10.10's at 23#'s ,3rd pic is new combo should go deep into the 9's ,just have to take tuning slow as the mistakes are costly at this point. Its 8 years in the making but i will never be done. Anyone ever turbo a te husky?

Nice!!! & Nice!!! I had a 83 gmc cavallero/elcamino got it to run 12s. That was fast I can only imagine 11s, 10s or less!! I know at the low 12s things happens fast.. Nice..

yes it is a rush like no other! car is getting a little crazy,it has 10.5" cheater slicks for street. If i nail it at 80mph it just skates and goes up in smoke. It can be a handfull an scares the crap out of fellow drivers on the highway. I have to ramp the boost now cause this new turbo hits like a freight train. The best way i can describe it is like a slingshot on crack!

To be!

I like the concept of the new 310 a lot. 250 with more bottom end, new frame, neat little engine. I think the weak spot will be the continued use of the Mikuni EFI. That is fixable though. I'm jealous!
