  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE310 Starting problems

Hi Guys,

I have searched the forums but can't find much that will help with an issue I have today. Story below.

I own a TE310 2011 with around 900kms on the clock(6 months old)

One thing I always loved was how easy this bike was to start. One press and she fired up - everytime without fail. I usually ride around once every month only.

BUT, today when I took it for a ride she would not start up for me 1st thing. Engine is ticking over, but does not seem to want to idle or start up and run. Eventually after nearly draining the battery and a few epletives later she started up and then ran perfectly for the day. Started 1st time every time after this on numerous occasions.

Got home, off the trailer and won't start again. Washed, cleaned, greased everything and tried again. Nothing.

Obvoiously a cold start issue, was looking for advice where to start.

I fit the JD Kit a few months back, and bike has been running perfect every time, everything else mechanically is stock.

Any ideas?

Water Temp sensor? Unplug it and try to run it. Or dirt/water in the coil lead where it goes into the coil.

My 09 TE 250 did the same thing. It was the coolant temp sensor as mentioned above. This sensor threads into the cylinder head. It cost me 12 USD to purchase and they have been known to go bad. A defective one tells the ECU that the engine is hot when it's cold and makes the fuel mixture too lean at start up, so it's hard to cold start. The sensor is not hard to replace.
