  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 Te310 - Jd Tuner Or 12 Point Injector + Ecu

Snail

Husqvarna
C Class
Been struggling a bit on hill climbs with my te310, mainly due to lack of ability but it dose die in the ass a bit down low.

It is a little better down low in the mode 2 fuel map but it is a pain as everytime the bike stops it switches back to mode 1

What would be a better option for improving the bottom end ?
The JD tuner or the 2012 12 point injector and ECU upgrade

Start with a JD.(you can still use it with a 12 hole/ecu upgrade) What gearing are you running 13/50?, you could also try a 12/50 combo.

Running 13/50, find it tops out pretty quick though, so would rather not go any lower if possible.

Another option you might want to think about is going with the Kawasaki 12 port injector and adding a Power Commander V with an auto tune kit. That why no matter your riding and no matter what the Temp or altitude the EFI should always be spot on! I know there might be simpler and cheaper routes but if I am going to spend the money to correct a problem that should have already been corrected I am not really sure I want to be supporting Husky to do it!

I am in the same spot as I am looking at buying a 2012 TE310. From my research it appears that the cheapest route is a JD tunner with the bikes setting all set to 100. If this doesnt solve your issues, move to the 12 port and ECU. Slight jetting change via. JD tunner brings in the richness. If this is not enough, a full race exhaust is next. This would require dealer set-up the bike's EFI setting then you can toss/sell the JD tunner as this should be perfect. Also the 12 port injector is said to add bottom end ridablity.

I like the auto-tune route however it cost more and have heard issues with set-up. Getting it programmed and weird no start conditions worries me.

The JD tuner might be cheaper but after 6 months of using the JD unit, my '11 TE310 NEVER ran as strong as it does now with the TXC310 ECU and 12 port. I still have the JD tuner hooked up because it offers other tweaks (transition point and accelartor pump) but the jettings are set to 4 (bypass on the unit) and it now finally has guts in second gear. The dealer installed and tweaked it---not sure where the TPS is set but all the COs are at 100.

The 12 port alone won't fix the issues---it's the more aggresive ignition mapping and revised fuel mapping of the ECU that really does the magic.

You may or may not know this, but the bike only switches back if you turn the key off or hit the kill button. If you stall the bike it will stay in mode 2 (at least mine does). So I intentionally stall the bike if I want to stay in mode 2.

I guess you have to wait the 2 minutes if you turned the ignition off? Even if it's warm? I've never really used mode 2, having only switched to it once briefly just to check it out.

You think it tops out quick, try running 13/52, I'm constantly trying to shift for 7th gear at 45mph, going to try 13/50.

Can you put a handlebar switch like on the KTM's?

im digging up an old thread but are there any benefits of running the jd tuner if you have the 12 port & ecu? my 12 310 has a bit of surging at lower rpms that i thought may be solved with the jd tuner? or can someone suggest another solution? what would the cause be?

thanks

I just upgraded to the ecu/injector and I was wondering if it was surging a little. Hard to tell over rough terrain if it's not your hand moving on the throttle a bit, though.

The tuner allows you to tweak part of the fuel mapping. As to whether that's a benefit... I don't have a dyno to see if it makes a difference. I do have the tuner, which I'm not running post-upgrade yet, but I'm going to toss it in eventually (before tooooo long) and try it out. I emailed JD and asked what settings he recommended and he was quick to reply with some recommendations:
