  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE250 Winter Storage Question

Sadly it is getting to be time to put the bike away for winter. This is my first bike with FI and the in tank pump. Are there any issues with storing it with the tank empty? I have been keeping my bikes in my storage room which is a dry and heated area so condensation shouldn't be an issue but I don't like to keep fuel in them as they tend to vent vapors.

Thanks

Bruce

you could send it to me in australia i will look after it till your summer comes around

That is an option but if I sent it to Australia I wouldn't have a bike to sit on and drink beer while staring at the walls waiting for spring.

Unless you can get the fuel pump assembly completely clean and bone dry I'd advise against storing it that way. The fuel residue is more likely to varnish, gum up, and cause problems if exposed to air. You're better off running some Sea Foam and/or Stabil through (running it for a bit to make sure injectors are treated as well), and storing the tank and fuel pump full of treated fuel. As HuskyDude mentioned, you could pull the tank and store it elsewhere, but I would keep it as full as possible.

I'd take the tank off with fuel in it- store it in the garage or outside, and dump the fuel in the spring. Start it up with fresh gas.

I would move to California where we ride all year**************************************** Above advice sounds good.
