  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE250 Stalls when hot.

C Class
Hey,

I just got a second hand 2011 te250. Have had 4 rides on it and on the second time i was out it just stalled after about an hours ride. It would not start again straight away so i let it sit for 5 min and started it back up and rode home fine. Then next ride i did 80ms and it run fine. Next ride it did it again, but i had to wait about 15 min for it to start back up then it seemed to run for about another 20min for i got back to the car. On my last ride it did it stalled again and i had to wait 5min for it to cool down then it would start again. This happened 4 more times that ride trying to get it back to the car. So what seems to happen is its fine when its cold, once it gets hot you just loose all power and stalls. The bike cools down you can start it again. Can replicate the fault at home by starting the bike, letting it get hot and giving it some throttle. It will just loose revs then die. Has got the white temp sensor installed. Can hear the fuel pump each time i turn the ignition. Have changed spark plug and air filter is clean.

Any Ideas??

Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem as this... Did you ever get it sorted as it's frustrating the hell out of me !
I have put a new temp sensor in and a new ca cycleworks pump in.
Can anyone say for certain if these bikes cut the ignition when they get hot?
Anyone got any advice as to what to try next ?

Thanks

valves maybe?

If the water temp sensor, you can try disconnecting it when hot, and see if it stalls. Not really sure if this can cause any other major problem as the machine is auto protecting herself.

My 09 te310 would stall like that when I first bought it used. Running a tank with fuel injector cleaner through it fixed it. Even with fuel injection if a bike sits too long gunk builds up in the fuel pump and causes it to overheat, I've been told. I've noticed if the bike sits for about 4 months it starts to stall a bit again, so I now I put FI cleaner in it the start of every season now, and it runs perfectly

I have a 2011 TXC 250 that does the same thing when it is very hot outside. ( above 90 degrees F ) I have the updated injector and ecu, and have installed a new ignition coil, temp sensor, and fuel pump. I have also found melted stator wires in the harness, and a number of poor connectors throughout the wiring harness. That being said I had a bad fuel pump that was causing very similar symptoms to your bike. I used a CA cycleworks fuel pump to replace my original pump and that fixed my original issue of the pump getting hot. My current issue is spark related, not fuel pressure when my bike dies.

I know my issue is above the head near the ecu and coil as I have used a hair dryer to heat items up individually to duplicate the symptoms. I would recommend the hair dryer trick to start as it is free and can point you in the right direction.

On my bike it will not die if I keep moving, but if I stop to take a break the fault appears. I believe that it is a item above the engine is heat soaking during these breaks and causing no spark at that time. If I keep moving or increase my pace enough to keep airflow over the component that is the issue it runs fine all day.

I hope this helps some. If you find an issue that is different than the fuel pump I would be grateful if you shared it here.

Have you seen this thread?

http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/2010-te-250-charging-circuit-problems.27406/

It's also a TE250 with strange issues on the electrical system, in my case it helped to clean all connectors (from dirt and with electronics cleanerspray) and check the voltages from generator and the regulator to eliminate possible causes.
I never figured it could be a faulty connector, but somewhere that was the issue it seems, I'll know more tonight once ridden it twice after cleaning. =)
Some people say the Huskys we ride are sensitive to moisture, it could be what caused my bike at least.
To recite "Par4" , this it for free and can point you in the right direction, changing these parts are not. Generator about 450€, regulator 50€ and a battery 50-100€.

Best of luck!

I also bought a slightly used 2011 and after a few hundred kms it was starting to stall at lights and low revs until finally it just wouldn't produce spark while trying to get on a ferry.Very frustrated but ended up testing the resistance on the trigger coil and it was 69 ohms versus a known working one that tested178.have to buy stator and coil together but bike is much better now,at least for now!
