  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna
A Class
seen this bike last night and it looks the dogs bollocks, was ready for ordering one when i found out it has the bmw engine that they had so many problems with and they have ditched probally one of the best forks out there for kyb (not the best)any opinion on this guys, maybe a switch to husaberg ?

Its amazing the amount of BS this single bike has generated... UR need to check UR sources because that engine has never been mentioned as having problems ...

Engine should be very good and reliable and the forks are usually considered better than the Zokes. All early reports are the bike is smooth, powerful, slim and the suspension is great. I have one on order and am stoked. It's going to be a very good bike, mark my words. One dude had a 09 FE450 and rode the 449 and preferred it to the Berg. Lots of mindless bike bashing going on out there from people that know nothing about the bike but hate BMW. The bike will be very good.

Went to my dealer to pick my te 310 up from a service today... in all its glory sat on the shop floor a new built up TE449.. holy smoking trees... it is the most beautifull pleasing bike to look at ever seen.. period.. it oozes class, workmanship & build quality... i thought my husky looked nice but compared to this its an ugly duck..
Warning if you see one DO NOT swing your leg over the seat... the layout feels perfect. the handle bars are slightly narrower the levers slightly shorter, the width feels narrower, the view of the angular front mudguard spectacular. it feels way different from the te 310 (10) instantly prefered it, rocking the bike side to side twisting the bars & bonging the springy bits you just feel its quality. The clutch is lighter than my 310 and the throttle twist also.. The bike feels incredably balanced. And the best bit is a demo is coming!...
Im am so suprised how much I was blown away by the bike in the flesh.. i actually was not that interested when looking at the initial release pictures.... if it goes as well as it looks the world will be its oyster..
:thumbsup::applause:

wrong

only wanted a opinion guys not to be shot down in flames, they had major clutch issues on that bmw engine and if it was so good why did david knight ditch it? and allso i have had bmw cars for years so dont hate bmw so wrong on that account allso.the bike is definately the best looking enduro out there by far as i said looked awsome.and some very trick bits on it and yes it looks a damm site better in the flesh.

You're being shot down because you're talkin trash without even riding one. Your comments about the forks being worse couldn't be further off the mark. Looks to me your comments were just a negative rant without any basis. Why don't you take it over to TT.

fine

in my opinion the kyb forks are not as good as zookies nown fact actually but i forgott opinions not alowed ,ok guys i will take my opinion else where and get some constructive comments, shoove it up your ass sideways, its people like you darkside that are put off by this site and up untill now i was quit happy here but maybe i will go else where.

maybe

people like you and your attitude ruin sites like these.sorry guys and thanks for those of you who did give me some good input but there is allways one or two that know the lot.

ok guys i will take my opinion else

I like to think most educated opinions are formed on some sort of fact. The new Husky motor may be based on the BMW, but it is not the same engine as the BMW. Of course Huskys are not perfect. But maybe you should wait until they are out in the public and the glitches are discovered before condemning them.

condeming ?

condeming i wasnt as i have two husky and love them both,i have ridden the bmw for some length of time and love the engine and from what im told the husky engine is pretty much the same ,as for the husky kyb forks even the husky uk top dog said he thought the zookies where better ? when i spoke to him on friday,so guys i dont think in my opinion im talking shit:excuseme:

Yes, everybody has their own opinions regarding the forks. Your original post sounded like a condemnation to me. I apologize for my knee jerk reaction. I've been reading too much negativity regarding the new models on another forum.

ok

accepted darkside,i have posted on this forum many times guys and some one new to the forum might have been put off by some of the comments and steered away from what is a fantastic informative site,so maybe in the future we may take other peoples comments and not imideatly condemm them yet again just my oppinion

I have sold two bikes this week. And my customers are very happy with there new bikes.

And i am even more happy ;-)

It can be difficult communicating via the internet.

In general it is better to say things as simple as possible so that the meaning is as universally understood as possible. Avoiding localized phrases (Colloquialisms) is a good thing - simply state "I like this" or "I don't like this".

If there is any doubt, people generally interpret things in the least positive way (human nature).

The Open cartridge Zokes are actually Kayaba clones. If you look at the internals of "Open Cartridge forks" they look pretty much the same. As for the Twin Chambered 50mm Zokes thye are very good foroks after tuned. Knight left the BMW because of its chassis dynamics from what I understand. Juha however is on a New husky this year.

not 100%

i believe if you look at how many events knight actually finished it wasnt that many they couldnt get a hydraulic clutch to work hence the cable mechanism,i spoke to david knight about this at a event wich he didnt finish due to this problem when testing a hydraulic system, allso some concern about the comlpexity of the swingarm/shock mount lots of bearings to wear but on a big plus they have fitted grease nipples wich is great.allso the rad plastics seem very wide and rigid could be issues for woods riding, all in all looks awsome and if it rides as good as it looks :applause: will definetly look at changing my 08 for one but maybe i will leave it untill 2012 to let any issues get ironed yet again just my opinion cheers

Bit late to the party on this thread but my tuppence worth:
1. Knighter was on an early bike, lots of development by BMW and Husqvarna between then and now including adoption of hydraulic clutch and 6 speed gearbox. (And I think he broke the clutch union due to impact at the Tough One rather than a failure but I may be wrong).
2. TE449/511 has a linkage rear suspension system but its no more complex than other linkages, just located on top of swingarm out of harms way rather than underneath.
3. Juha Salminen just finished ISDE in runner up spot in E2 class on TE449. A reasonable test of the bike I think!

We have a test day in Wales on Friday 19th November - book yourself in and come along to ride one and have a chat.

will do

friend of mine has the bmw and was told if you go onto bmw forum there is lots of people that have had problems with this engine but on the plus side bmw have been using it for 3 years so any major issues should have been ironed out, just hope husky hasnt adopted a problematic engine and the clutch issue isnt a problem, maybe will try and get a spin on one of the 2011 bikes if it rides as good as it looks maybe i will be ordering one.
