  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 te 310

Anyone know if the 11 TE310 has any of these? I was wondering about the transmission? I had a 06 TE 250 and that was like having a MX trans on the street! Hope they opened it up. How about the seat height. Again on my 06 that thing was a skyscraper! Hope they lowered that. I know they increased the gas capacity. I held out on the 10 250 for this. Hope they took care of these issues.

I'm not 100% sure that all the specs are out on the 011 TE310, but ~all the other new bikes have specs on them and nothing really changed much in these areas ...

Still the same. Close ratio gearbox, tall dirtbike seat height.

Why would you use a close ratio gearbox on something with a headlight? :banghead:As for a tight technical trail bike bike why would you have such a tall seat height? :excuseme:My 06 te250 was tall! Maybe I need to save $$$ and just spend the $500-700 to dual sport my wr290.... I was almost ready to "pull the trigger". I guess I could try and compare the specs but that will be a trick in itself as my old te 250 claimed 230lbs and the new lightweight TE 250 claims around the same?????? BTW my 06 TE hit the scales at +260lbs......:excuseme::excuseme::excuseme::excuseme::cheers:

Maybe the new 250F Gas Gas with the Yam engine would be good choice for you? Add a 290 kit and a DS set up and you'll have a motor you like in a nice Euro package!

Why would you use a close ratio? Why are my Honda friends complaining about wide ratio X's to use for the woods. They say the ratios are all wrong and would prefer the MX transmission with electric start. Most run the MX version but I am on the east coast so I am sure somewhere the wide ratio is appreciated. It is tough to please all people and if it was like 2010 Husky gave you a 40 tooth rear sprocket along with a 50 and new chain. They are at least trying there. The Husky is a true off road bike that you can get a plate for but to say it should be able to run down the highway at 70 is asking a lot for a short stroke motor that makes childs play out of tight woods.

As far as 1 person being too short and another being too tall, I don't know how to explain that. The bike fits me good and I feel it is easier on my knees this way. I had a '06 when you had one and I do not remember reading anywhere about a claimed weight of 230 lbs. I have a '10 TXC 250 and according to my scales with my offroad stuff on it, my bike weight is 239 without fuel. It feels light and handles like it is light which makes riding tight technical stuff easier.

I do remember a magazine doing a test at the Vegas Endurocross with the '06 TE, CRF 250X, and WR 250F and they felt the TE was lighter feeling and better for those kinds of obstacles.

The '11 310 is going to be a home run for Husky I think. The '10 has held up way better than what I was thinking when I read about it in '08. I am a big fan of the old 250/450/510 motor for it's reliability. This new motor so far has been just as good so far. I keep thinking this will be the time I need to shim the valves but the things have not moved on me yet. You do have to be religious on oil and air filter.

These are dirt bikes that can we ridden legally on hiways and national forests in the usa ... 6-speeds CR transmission are great I think off road .... U almost aways have the perfect gear .... You can be grinding up a vert, gnarly uphill and go up to the next gear with no problem ...

If you want more space in the gears, go up 1 tooth on the front sprocket and that CR transmission spaces out very well and feels a lot more like a 5-speed ... And 1st is still low enough to handle technical stuff with some clutch work ... You guys still remember clutch work, right? ... Go to a 15t/50t <48t> combination and hiways speeds will be possible...

If that bike weighs 239, ~10lbs is the estart... so now you are looking at 229 ... :)

The 310 should be a great bike ... I can see myself changing my 250 over to one in the distant future ... Husky just does not advertise bikes here in the usa ... apparently, they are satisfied with sales here ... Look at the PUB ktm generated with the other size bike, the 350 ... bmw with the deep pockets just let them grab the entire 'other than a 250 or 450' stage ...

I think the new 310 should be a home run engine. I also would think with the added stroke there will be torque and should have room for a taller 6th gear. On my 06 I had a 12 and 14t counter depending on where I was going to ride. I tried to look at the specs and that is where I got the weights from. It also said the 2011 TE310 at close to a 1" lower seat height??? I been in the game a long time and take these specs with a grain of salt. My 2007 WR250f is around 260 as was my 06 TE250 give or take a lb. Anything close to 240 would be nice. Trails here are VERY tight and a low 1st/2nd is a must. I guess for me a close 2/3/4 would be perfect with a sort of od 6th for the "road".

After finding the old pics the weight ready to ride was....277:eek:

And Waikiki Beach. Need a good 6th gear to get here...

Oahu? It's just 2hrs around the entire island if the road on the NorthShore past Waialua is not washed out .... What's the rush? lol ...

If you guys are so worried about 2-3 inches of height in all the 1-2 gear stuff... Just slide the forks down in the triple clamps and add a lot of sag to the rear .... This will not hurt the suspension performance any at the speed you are going and it might even help .... AND you get your feet on the ground :) .... I do this to a small degree now but I'm just really cautious in the rocks now ... I catch up as soon as the trail opens up to allow some speed ...

PS -- Nice pics and you might wanna consider something other than that knobby for those rock rides ... Trials or some of the enduro tires such a Kenda 270 will kick a knobbies butt in these places .... And run low air pressure and save another 1/2 inch in height :) ... But not if it rains ...

This something the ruddy journos do not get. Because the plate alows us to use the bike on roads it is only really a woods machine that technically allows you to link up different woods on the road. They never were a commute machine. But in the bush they are superb. That what I buy my Huskies for.

Yes I always "raise the forks" and increase the sag to match however I know its just screwing with the geometry of the suspension. Other standards are cutting of the bars and seat. Some have used the trials tires with success however I used to stick with a good rear tire and very low pressure. There is a freeway into and out of my town and that was the problem or reason of wanting a tall 6th. We call Waikiki the concrete jungle here and its a 30 mile road trip to get there..:busted::busted::applause:

Where are you folks finding the specs on the bikes? Husky's website doesn't have jack...

2006 TE250 http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/218/Buyers-Guide-Specifications/2006-Husqvarna-TE250.aspx Seat: 38.19" and 232.6lbs:eek: mine was 277 wet but with the tank on reserve??:banghead:

2010 TE 310 http://www.husqvarnamotorcycles.com.au/pdf/2010/te_310_10.pdf Seat 37.91" and 235.9 lbs :excuseme:

2011 TE 310 http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2011models/2011-Husqvarna-TE310.htm Seat 37.4" :thumbsup: and 233.69lbs :thumbsup::cheers:

Seems they changed the primary ratios so it is difficult to see the real changes to compare them.

I do know that the 250 went on a serious diet in 2010 and the 310 got a similar makeover for 2011. I may be back in again.. Just never thought i would see the day of a $9k dirt bike this soon..:oldman:

That 277 is also with protection right(skid plate, etc)? I realize we all put that on, but that stuff adds up to so it's really 277 wet and with extra hardware.

I have an 08 TE250 and love it, but would love to have an '11 310! I'm 6'2" and love the seat height. I stand a lot but when I sit, if the seat height was lower it would be a lot harder on my knees.

Yes that weight was ready to ride with about a 1/4 tank. It does look like this is the lowest seat height in some years. I think it was carried away at 38+". But who cares what I think.:excuseme:

Ok another pic.

Hmmm, would be very interesting to see a te 310 weighing less than 250lbs ready to ride with armor. My txc is barely under 250 after armor and full of gas. No lights and a Lithium battery. Same basic engine and frame, right?

Greg your 2010 TXC 250 weighed in at 255 and my 2009 TXC 250 weighed in at 267 with full tanks of gas and fully armored for battle.
