  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE 310 and Mod. or 2012 TXC 310 and legalize?

In other words, the TC should have the TXC forks and the TXC should have the TE forks. :excuseme:

I'm not sure if I'm understanding but, the TE has the open chamber, both TC and TXC have the same closed chamber. However, their tuning I believe is different, I.E. valving and even maybe even spring rate. With that said, if I had a TXC I'd prefer the TE's open forks for the woods racing i do since I'm no expert. So your post and for my (and maybe your) preference- yes. Sorry if im confused with your post.

Benriding is well versed in the offerings from KTM. He’s been on them since the late 90s and has 2 including a 300xc and a 450exc, he’s trying to become more enlightened and own a Husqvarna:cheers: . He’s not so much a dualsport rider as he is an off road racer who needs a plate.

I think he is still looking for info: pipe differences, and stock ecu/injector differences. He’s not going to want low speed stalls and will want low end grunt to lug it and launch it…

I am pretty sure the TXC has an Leo Vince Pipe and the TE comes with a Arrow Pipe with removable CAT. He would want to know if the Arrow Pipe works well enough to not need to be replaced.

Are you guys with 11TE310s having fueling issues with the stock ECU and injector that the 11TXC310 does not have? Fixed with Ibeat? Updated parts? Or Jd Tuner?

As far as the suspension goes- I think the open chambers would be as Jason pointed out- more compliant, TXC and TC's have the Dualchambers (just more firm for jumping/mx stuff) bit more complecated to tune/ maintain as well, TE's have single chambers. BUT I HAVE read that some TE's came with left over dualchambers in some weird cases....

I agree on the open forks being more easy to tune/ maintain. The TE' comming with closed chamber forks from the factory, thats got to be good 'old inconsistency.

I want a bike I can throw around a bit off road, occaissionally ride road to connect the fun stuff. Main issue here is weather the TE310 can run well without spending another 1500 for ecu, injector, and exhaust. If it's just the ecu and injctor that are needed and remove the cat from the exhaust then that's only $400, over and above buying the bike.
Yes the new KTM 500 looks great, but $3000 more than the deal I can get on a husky, 20lbs heavyer and it's an unproven motor. Last generation of KTM motors were garbage.
Need to get down to where I'm owning one dirtbike, have other toys and have too much to mainain. TE 310 looked like the answer if it's feasible to get one running right, not just good enough.
Seems the TXC is what I need as the ecu and injector are figured out (right?). Can the te run as good as a txc without breaking the bank to get there?

I'm good with the forks and suspension of the TE and would actually prefer that set-up as I ride roots, rocks, and logs.

You don't need a pipe unless you're a racer desperate for every ounce of weight and performance.

Not worried about every ounce, just want good quality power and predictable handling. When I race I'm Sen. B rider and not the fastest at that.

From the most recent reports on here of the TE's converting the injectors and ECU's to the '12 TXC's injectors and ECU's are sounding very good. I dont think you have to have the exhaust too and if not, the injector with ECU seems to be going for around $350 range?

good stuff- that's what I was taking away from it too- and if the ECU and injector gets the fueling working really good- the small variance from the exhaust difference could probably be tuned with Ibeat to accommodate-.I honestly don't think the stock Arrow (PU-mode) is restrictive by any means. After break in we can cut the stainless shell out of it (I assume its like my 09 and has that stainlesss shell inside) and repack. Stick with just the Spark arrester (should be fine for <96db). and who knows he may find a deal on an Akro or a LeoV at some point if he wants..

Picking up 2011 TE 310 tomarrow! Took it for short test ride was powered up and they did some work with Ibeat, seemed to run great! Will ride for a while maybe think about TXC ecm and injecter for winter project.

Great choice on the bike! ... I don't see how you can go wrong with either ... The 310 sized bikes might be the new, perfect sized 4t machines of the future ... Sort of like how the '250 2t' was so perfect for so many yrs ...

These bikes are professional grade and very versatile ... Hone your bike skills (ESP weighting that clutch lever slightly in specific situations for traction) and this bike will put many in your rear view mirror...

Happy trails and post some ride reports in the future maybe ...

My 2011 TE310 with the JD turner runs great. Its in the pu mode with the spark arrestor removed. The only downside to removing the spark arrestor is crappy miliage. Does anybody know if the TXC ECU and injector would help with fuel economy.

Well, he's picking up his 11TE310 today from Keytime Motorsports....... I might get to finally ride an XLITE****************************************
