  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc 2011 cr150

wow a CR150 ... that is gonna be a fast bike ... only reviews I have saw on a 150 were the WR models and those were all very good ... The ebay AD here says it is a 6-speed and a 2yr warranty!

ok so i've just bought a new cr125 2011. yep, 2 yr warranty in the uk. the cr150 appears to be a 139cc.

gonna be a learnin curve from a 450ktm. i last had a cr125 husky, chiodi kitted, in 98 (i think lol).

get this for thinkin, but the manual for the bike is on a memory stick for the pc. wtf :D

its a pity the ground is soaking wet here.

Was there a significant difference in price between the CR150 and the CR125?

144cc, i stand corrected

to be honest, i didn't even price the 150 with the dealer in the end. i was gonna buy a clean used 09 125, but the new 125 got me. i reckon there is about £400 difference between 125-150, going on ebay prices.

do any of you guys know if the husq air filter is the same as any other brands???

cr125 2011

so i have started to strip my new 125 down for greasing and generally checking over. here's a couple of pics.

i've got a few observations and queries from my initial work. first is how lightly torqued the panel bolts are and how tight the fork pinch bolts were (way above 20nm i'd say). there was a decent amount of grease on the steering bearings.

check out the pic of the lower steering bearing. does this inner sleeve look typical in the way its sitting up about 1.5mm? never seen one like it.

my first modification will be the throttle tube. using the thumpertalk method i'm going to try and quicken up the action, cause it feels a very long turn from zero to full throttle. i've done it before on a 4st tube, cause i've got a dodgy wrist.

Smart man stripping the bike before you ride it. How do you rate the quality of the dealer set and pdi compared with other brands? I have mainly owned Suzuki's and I have always been appalled at how little grease is used in the build up. The last bike I bought was a KTM 150 - I thought they might be better but sadly not.

Did you get your 125 from Freestyle? I was thinking of going along one day next week and having a look at that 150. My excuse for not getting a husky in 2009 and 2010 was that they weren't making a bb 125....looks like i'm now out of excuses.

normaly pdi just means putting the bike together from the crate and checking oil and starting the engine. thats in my experience. i've always taken my bikes apart before riding them, and with suzuki's it was a once month thing to keep the linkage bearings clean.
an odd one is not having a torque settings page in the manual?
that 150 is bound to be a ripper tho, go for it lol.

The WR250 throttle cable is longer if you want to run it in front of the handlebars. I changed mine out and it works perfect.

The same as 2008 wr125

I'd like more info on making the throttle tube quicker. Thanks.

ok here's the throttle tube mod which worked very well on a 450 i had a couple of years ago. the idea is to be able to turn the throttle tube a smaller amount to get full or near full throttle.

i picked this tip up on thumpertalk at the time. the mod makes the diameter of the throttle larger but still allow the cable and throttle tube to fit inside the outer housing.

simply glue a piece of hard rubber onto the area where the cable will lie. the thickness of the rubber i used as about 1.5mm. trim it all nice with a sharp blade and ensure the surfaces are spotless. a piece of plastic pipe with the correct dia will work too.

ensure when you reassemle that the throttle works smoothly at all rotations. make sure nothing sticks or snags. too much diameter and the tube will interfere with the body

heres the pics

i still have to reassemble and do my checks. zero to hero should be less rotation.
