  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I'd be willing to give that a try, if it really gets rid of the drag. That's the biggest complaint I have with my 300. In really slow going, the bike will manage to stall with the clutch pulled in, often leaving me in a really awkward position and unable to get a foot to the ground, or kickstart the bike without moving it first.

oil thread......not saying anything just that I use Maxima MTL 75w (extra lite) its a little like water, so I just change it often. And of course have that clutch baselined and in perfect blue printed order ie: all discs flat and in good order, basket in good order, along with arm, bearings and pusher shaft.

my lubricants are buried or I would get what I used posted
but this is what I had in mind,, a high quality synthetic lube that supports clutch use
I slide mine in really technical stuff and have no issues with creep or slip
glad to see it worked, it only gets better when all the plates surfaces are bathed in it for a full oil change cycle, as to clean out contaminants

Well I had two seats and took one to play around with ... the local upholstery place was able to shave it and retain the original cover ... I’ll give it a try ... here’s some pics with the stocker ... then the shaved6772A513-CA2B-4D4A-A39C-B09F997F622F.png

One thing I’ve found is that it’s fairly easy to loose your breather tube and fitting on the top of engine case .... the part number for the fitting is ... HQ800019620 its a plastic 90 degree fitting with barbs and can go missing ... like what happened to me .... so when I replaced this take an extra tie wrap .. zap strap or whatever you call them and strap it to one of the breather hoses off the carb ... so ya don’t loose it if the fitting/hose ever decides to vacate your bike ... : )4CA78D65-4716-4FF6-BF5E-87EDACD70F48.png

So.....have you had a chance to put any more riding time on your bike to see how that transmission oil works?

No .... I’m gonna take it out this coming weekend ... I’ll be sure to let you know how things work out .... I’m remaining fairly optimistic that things are going to work good ... she’s ready to ride .... : )

Well lots of riding this weekend and the bike still has some clutch drag ... but not as bad ... shifts are smooth ... so I’m gonna look into something else ... the bike does idle in gear now ... never did before , I’ll do a few more rides and see if things loosen up ... good turn out up the Chilliwack River Valley .... couldn’t think of a better thing to do with this social distancing thing .... young and old were out .... it was a good time ... my buddy did mention a few things to try with the clutch plates ( drilling holes ) to allow the oil to disperse away from the plates ... when I get time maybe I’ll give this try ... but all in all I like this Rekluse oil .... but not the price .... Lol
