  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 TE510 NO SPARK !?!

Not sure what section to write this in, did some searching (which I don't think I'm good at) and had no luck. Go easy on me sorta new to working on bikes.

Trying to figure out an issue with my bike. Was out in Moab a few weeks ago riding, got back home and after a few days I tried to start it up to go for a local ride. No go, turned over but would not fire up. Pulled off the tank (heard about FI clogging issues), turned it over with the fuel line disengaged and the FI spit out a strong stream of fuel. Put tank back on and it still wouldn't fire. Waited a day tried again and it fired up for about 3 minutes and died. Started looking at wires and connections, nothing noticeably wrong. Battery seems strong too. Changed spark plug, tried it again and no start. Waited a day, tried again and it started and ran freaking great! Cool.......was going to go for a ride today and what do you know.....it turns over but won't fire up!

Any ideas for a noob to figure out how to get her running.

Have you tried the basic stuff? What did the spark plug look like? Do u know how to test for a spark with it connected to the bike? Can u post a picture of the sparky? Nice profile image btw

I put a new spark plug in it. It did start once with the new spark plug....ran it around the block (yesterday) with the idea that I would ride it today, but it wouldn't start today. How do you test it with it connected? I tried taking the plug out and starting it to look for a spark (no spark).

Spark might not even be making it to the plug so you have to test further up the line. It needs to be earthed to make a spark. Be careful you dont zap yourself or ignite the cranked fuel from the cylinder.

Tried putting the spark plug threads against the motor as a ground, no spark. I'm thinking of just buying a coil, wire and plug cover since they are fairly inexpensive.

I just had the sameting happen to my 2010 250TXC. I've tried alot of things and it boiled down to be the ECU, so if you have a buddy that has one thats the first thing I would start out with.

Put it on Ibeat and spin it with the starter - if no rpm readout then it's the ignition (crank) pickup.

If it is the pickup, replace just the pickup by splicing it into the existing wiring harness. Mine was from a WR Yamaha (year?)

He's the guy that set me straight.
