  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 TE450 Fuel Pump

Stirlo

Husqvarna
A Class
Had a problem with my bike yesterday. Fuel pump wouldn't prime then would work every now and then. I could hear the relay clicking but not the pump running. When it did decide to run it sounded like is was struggling to pump fuel. I came good for a few minutes, just long enough to get back to the car! Any info would be good:cheers:

First thing I would check is the fuel tank vent line in the gas cap,
if it is not working properly and you are pulling a vacuum
it will over heat the pump and it will fail.
I lost 2 pump's that way before i figured out the check valve
was bad and I was pulling a vacuum, I removed the check valve
and ever since no problems.

Mine crapped out during an enduro.

I learned then and there how to remove a fuel pump in the middle of a rail with AA riders whipping by!

The dealer replaced my pump and it has been fine since.

Yes of course pull the vent hose and see if the problem goes away.

Mine died when I hit some big whoops and a log.

Checked the cap vent, all OK. Checked the voltage at the plug that goes to the the pump, all OK. Can't see how a bad connection could make it sound like it was struggling to pump. It runs ok now, but for how long......

How long is a good point
I would remove the check valve from your vent line
and you might want to order a back up pump
for when the time comes.

I was able to start mine in the woods by wiggling wires on it once i took it out.....but maybe it just restarted once it cooled off....it was a hot day and I was hauling in a long section both times.

BTW I had all of 120 miles on it when it died...like 4 tanks of fresh gas went through it.

People have also talked about the pump riding up out of the holster, away from the pre-filter, and then junk gets sucked up in the pump and causing it to bog down, bits of plastic and other garbage.

My first pump went out at about 500 miles in traffic hot day 100 miles
away from home when it cooled down it fired back up That was befour
i descovered the fuel cap vent check valve problem.

Just tried it again, must have hit that red button 100 times buy now and it seems ok. Done a few laps of the back yard but might take it out friday after work and see.

My te450 expanded the tank a while back while riding thru some slow, tight sections. After getting thru the sections I noticed my lower black (sides of the rads) shrouds were sticking out. What the?! I opened the gas cap and sure enough the tank sucked back down to normal size. At the time, I had a little one way valve on the cap....I removed it, thinking it was causing the over pressurization. I removed the little valve and put a straight thru hose on the vent nipple.
Riding the other day in the same conditions (super tight and slow going) the did the same thing. THe only thing left to do is remove the one way valve built into the cap. It doesn't let enough pressure to leak off when the going gets slow and the bike is creating lots of heat.

my stocker was possibly giving me issues so i swapped it out for a ca cycleworks pump and no problems yet....
